| Judul Artikel | AN ANALYSIS OF AN ASPERGER SYNDROME MAN 'DONALD MORTON' IN MOZART AND THE WHALE MOVIE |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tipe-tipe kalimat yang sulit dimengerti oleh Donald Morton (pria dengan sindrom asperger) di film Mozart and the Whale dan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis respon yang diujarkan Donald Morton (Pria dengan sindrom asperger) didalam film berjudul Mozart and the Whale. Penelitian ini memiliki dua rumusan masalah, (1) Tipe kalimat apa yang sulit dimengerti oleh Donald Morton (Pria dengan sindrom asperger) didalam film berjudul Mozart and the Whale? (2) Apa sajakah jenis-jenis respon yang diujarkan oleh Donald Morton (Pria dengan sindrom asperger) didalam film berjudul Mozart and the Whale? Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh kalimat yang diujarkan oleh Donald Morton dan pemeran lain yang berkomunikasi dengannya yang dikategorikan menurut teori yang digunakan didalam penelitian ini, yaitu teori dari Happé dan Schank. Peneliti memiliki beberapa langkah dalam menganalisis data didalam penelitian ini. Yang pertama, peneliti menonton film Mozart and the Whale beberapa kali untuk memahami keseluruhan cerita. Yang kedua, peneliti mengamati kalimat yang diujarkan oleh pemeran utama dan pemeran lainnya melalui percakapan didalam film. Langkah selanjutnya adalah mengklasifikasi dan menganalisi data sesuai dengan teori yang telah dikemukakan dalam penelitian ini. Yang terakhir, menyampaikan kesimpulan dan saran. Setelah menganalisis data, penulis menemukan 14 data yang termasuk dalam tipe kalimat yang sulit dimengerti oleh Donald Morton (pria dengan sindrom asperger) dan tipe respon yang diujarkan Donald Morton. Ada 14 data dalam tipe kalimat yang sulit dimengerti oleh Donald Morton dibagi menjadi; joke 2 data, lie 1 data, irony 1 data, sarcasm 9 data dan pretence 1 data. Kemudian, ada 14 data untuk respon yang diujarkan Donald Morton diklsifikasikan menjadi absurd response (AR) 2 data, odd response (OR) 1 data, marginal relevant response (MR) 3 data, dan relevant but not too polite response (RnP) 8 data. Inggris) | The research is aimed at identifying the types of the utterances that are difficult to understand by Donald Morton (an Asperger Syndrome man) in Mozart and the Whale movie and to describe the types of responses produced by Donald Morton (an Asperger Syndrome man) in Mozart and the Whale movie. This research has two question to be explored; those are: (1) What types of utterances are difficult to understand by Donald Morton (an Asperger Syndrome man) in Mozart and the Whale movie? (2)What kinds of responses produced by Donald Morton (an Asperger Syndrome man) in Mozart and the Whale movie? This study was conducted in descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study are all of the utterances produced by Donald Morton and the other character who has conversation with him which is categorized according to the theory used in this research, from Happé and Schank. The researcher has several steps in analyzing the data of the research. Firstly, the researcher watched the movie several times to understand the whole story. Secondly, the researcher collected the utterances which uttered by the main character and the other character who has conversation with him in the dialogue of the movie. The next step was categorized and analyzed the data based on the theory which is proposed in this research. Finally, the researcher presented the conclusion and suggestion. After analyzing the data, the researcher found 14 data which are included in the types of utterances that are difficult to understand by Donald Morton as an Asperger Syndrome man and the responses produced by Donald Morton. There were 14 data in the types of utterances that are difficult to understand by Donald Morton, which are classified into joke 2 data, lie 1 datum, irony 1 datum, sarcasm 9 data and pretence 1 datum. Then, there are 14 data in the types of responses produced by Donald Morton, which are classified into absurd response (AR) 2 data, odd response (OR) 1 datum, marginal relevant response (MR) 3 data and relevant but not too polite response (RnP) 8 data.
