PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER (FRP) PADA BATANG KOMPOSIT KAYU DAN BAMBU LAMINASI TERHADAP BEBAN AKSIAL TEKAN
Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

The demand for sustainable construction materials encourages the utilization of fast-growing timber such as Sengon wood. However, Sengon inherently possesses low mechanical properties. This study proposes an innovative hybrid composite material utilizing Sengon as the core and laminated Petung bamboo as the facing. To mitigate sandwich structure premature and delamination under axial compressive loads, lateral confinement using Externally Bonded Fiber Reinforced Polymer (EB-FRP) was applied. This experimental research tested 5x5x20 cm specimens with varying layers of FRP strips (0, 2, 3, 4, and 5 layers). The results demonstrated that the application of FRP increased the maximum compressive capacity (Pmax) by effectively restraining lateral expansion and binding the constituent materials to act as a unified whole. The failure mode successfully transitioned from massive delamination to core crushing, shear crimping, and dimpling of facing, which were strictly localized within the unconfined gaps. Despite the technical improvement in load-bearing capacity, the ANOVA statistical analysis concluded that the mean differences in the compressive strength increase were not statistically significant.
