Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)

Background: Chronic Hepatitis B is a threat to people in the world. In Indonesia, Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2017 stated that chronic hepatitis B patients reached 10%. Objective : This study aims to analyze the difference in the side effects of tenofovir and entecavir on urea and creatinine levels in chronic hepatitis B patients at Margono Soekarjo Hospital. Methods: This study included observational analysis by collecting as many as 70 chronic hepatitis B patients who received tenofovir or entecavir therapy. Data was collected from the medical records of Margono Soekarjo Hospital from January to October 2024. Results: The average age of chronic hepatitis B patients at Margono Soekarjo Hospital was 37.97 years. Patients were dominated by men as many as 39 patients (55.7%). The results of the Fisher Exact test showed that there was a difference in the side effects of tenofovir and entecavir on urea with a p value of 0.025. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a difference in the side effects of tenofovir and entecavir on creatinine levels with a pvalue of 0.040. Tenofovir tends to cause increased levels of urea and creatinine. Conclusion: There are differences in the side effects of tenofovir and entecavir on urea and creatinine levels in chronic hepatitis B patients at Margono Soekarjo Hospital after 6 months of treatment. Clinicians are advised to be more careful in the treatment of tenofovir and routine monitoring is required
