Penelitian ini berjudul “The Implementation Of Guided Conversation Technique In Esp
Speaking Class For Babysitters (A case study in LPK Prima Husada Purwokerto Academic
Year 2013/2014) ”Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu (1) Untuk menerapan teknik panduan dalam
percakapan bahasa Inggris untuk babysitter. (2) Untuk mengetahui kesulitan-kesulitan yang di
alami oleh siswa-siswa dan guru dalam penerapan teknik ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan
metode tindakan kelas. Metode ini menyediakan panduan untuk guru dan siswa tentang
bagaimana cara untukvlebih baik dalam belajar.
Dalam penelitian ini, pada siklus 1, dilakukan tes penerapan teknik untuk mengetahui
kemampuan siswa dengan topik ‘Introduction’. Para siswa di harapkan dapat memproduksi
beberapa ekpresi seperti: how do you do?, what is your name?. Diketahui bahwa siswa-siswa
tersebut dapat menggunakan ekpresi-ekpresi yang diharapakan khususnya dalam topik ini.
Akan tetapi mereka masih membutuhkan motivasi yang lebih karena masih ada beberapa
kekurangan dalam mengekpresikannya.
Pada siklus 2, tes dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara
dengan menerapkan teknik guided conversation. Pada pertemuan ini, topik yang digunakan
adalah ‘At The Hospital’. Para siswa diharapkan dapat menghasilkan ekpresi seperti: have you
ever been in hospital?, have you ever had a blood tranfusion?. Hasil penelitian ini, menunjukan
bahwa para siswa mampu membuat ekspresi bahasa Inggris yang diharapkan. Para siswa
mampu menunjukkan meningkatan dalam kemampuan berbicara. Data penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan dalam
kategori fluency (kelancaran), grammar (struktur), dan sebagainya.

The research is entitled “The Implementation of Guided Conversation Technique In Esp
Speaking Class For Babysitters (A Case Study in LPK Prima Husada Academic Y ear
2013/2014)”. The purposes of this research are (1) To find the implementation of guided
conversation technique in ESP speaking class for babysitter, (2) To find out the obstacles for
the students and the teacher in applying this technique. This research belongs to Classroom
Action Research (CAR). Action research provides a framework that guides the energies of
teachers toward a better understanding of why, when, and how students become better learners.
In this research, the students’ test in cycle 1 was done to know the result of the students’
ability in speaking by implemeting guided conversation technique. On this first meeting, the
topic was ‘Intr oduction’. The students were expected to produce expressions like for example:
how do you do?, what is your name?. The result showed that the students could make some
expected expressioms in English especially in introduction. The student need some motivation
how to make expression in conversation.
In the test cycle 2 was done to know the result of the students’ ability in speaking by
implementing guided conversation technique. On this second meeting, the topic was ‘At The
Hospital’. The students were expected to produce expressions like for example: have you ever
been in hospital?, have you ever had a blood tranfusion?. The result showed that the students
could make some expressions in English conversation. The students were able to show their
ability in speaking which is increased. The researcher analyzed from the data that the most of
them were able to increase their conversation in each category like fluency, gammar, and so
on.
