| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul " An Analysis of Narcissism on Greg Heffley as Depicted in Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney ". Penelitian mengkaji tentang karakteristik narsisme dan efek narsisme yang ditunjukkan oleh karakter Greg. Pendekatan psikologis diterapkan dalam menganalisis karakteristik narsisisme dan pengaruh narsisisme pada karakter Greg. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan fenomena karakteristik narsisisme dan pengaruh narsisisme pada Greg Heffley sebagai karakter utama. Data primer diambil dari novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid oleh Jeff Kinney, sedangkan data sekunder diambil dari sumber eksternal yang berkaitan dengan teori karakteristik narsisme dan efek narsisme. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik narsisisme terungkap dalam karakter Greg Haffley. Pertama, karakter narsisme diperlihatkan Greg karakter seperti merasa penting, ketika Greg merasa bahwa jika ia menjadi bendahara di sekolah. Kedua, terobsesi dengan fantasi kesuksesan, yang ditunjukkan ketika imajinasi Greg menjadi orang kaya dan terkenal. Karakteristik ketiga adalah perasaan yakin bahwa dia unik dan istimewa daripada orang lain yang muncul saat Greg berharap bahwa ia akan menjadi orang yang terkenal di komunitas tertentu dan teman-teman sekolahnya akan melihatnya suatu hari. Keempat ingin dikagumi, dihormati, dan mendapatkan perhatian yang muncul saat Greg membutuhkan seseorang untuk berbagi cerita satu sama lain. Kelima, Greg memiliki karakteristik memiliki prioritas yang banyak ditunjukkan dalam niat Greg untuk melatih otot tubuhnya untuk bergabung di klub gulat. Kemudian, keenam adalah karakteristik yang sangat memanfaatkan hubungan dalam karakter egois Greg yang ditunjukkan dalam hubungannya dengan Rowley. Karakteristik ketujuh adalah narsisis tidak memiliki empati yang ditunjukkan saat Greg mempromosikan dirinya dengan mempermalukan kandidat lain menggunakan posternya. Sedangkan kedelapan adalah merasa iri atau cemburu pada orang lain. Greg merasa cemburu pada anak yang lebih terkenal dari dia di sekolah. Greg merasa bahwa orang tuanya memberi terlalu banyak perhatian pada adiknya saja. Karakteristik terakhir dari narsisis sangat arogan yang ditunjukkan dalam persepsi superiornya sebagai pemain video game. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research is entitled “An Analysis of Narcissism on Greg Heffley as Depicted in Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney”. This research studies about the characteristics of narcissism and the effect of narcissism that is shown in Greg’s character. The psychological approach is applied in analyzing the characteristic and effect of narcissism on Greg’s character. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that describes the phenomenon of the characteristic and effect of narcissism on Greg Heffley as the main character. The primary data is taken from the novel of Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, whereas the secondary data are taken from external resources that relate to the theory of narcissism characteristic and the effects of narcissism. The result of this research shows that the characteristic of narcissism is much revealed in Greg Haffley’s character. First, the characters of narcissism are shown in Greg character such Feel great and important, when Greg feels that if he becomes the treasurer in school. Second, obsessed with fantasies of success that has no end, which shown when the imagination of Greg Haffley to be a rich and famous person. The third characteristic is the feeling confident that he is unique and special than other people that is shown when Greg expects that he will be a famous person in certain community and his school friends will see it one day. The fourth is wants to be admired by requiring redundant, revered, and get attention that is appears when Greg needs of someone to share story each other. Fifth, Greg have a characteristic that expected to have priority in terms of both treatment and special or unreasonable that much shown in Greg's intention to exercise his body to get some muscle in order to join the wrestling. Then, the sixth is the characteristic of very utilize human relationships in Greg’s selfish character shows in his relationship with Rowley. The seventh characteristics is narcissist do not have empathy which shown when Greg promotes himself in her own way by disgracing another candidate using his posters. While the eighth is feel jealous of others. Greg is feeling jealous of the child who more famous than him in school. Greg feels that his parents give too much attention to his little brother only. The last characteristic of narcissist is very arrogant, which shown in his superior perception as the player of video game. |
