| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Sosiolinguistik berkaitan dengan bahasa sebagai fenomena sosial dan budaya. Melalui sosiolinguistik, peneliti bisa menentukan jenis dan alasan penggunaan swearing words sebagai salah satu bagian dari aspek sosial dan budaya dalam interaksi verbal sehari-hari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengklasifikasikan jenis swearing words dan untuk menganalisis alasan yang mempengaruhi penggunaan swearing words dalam film Ted. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) mengklasifikasi swearing words yang ada dalam film Ted, dan (2) menganalis alasan peggunaan swearing words yang ada dalam film tersebut. Metode dari penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan metode ini untuk mengklasifikasi tipe-tipe swearing words menggunakan teori milik Anderson dan Trudgill sedangkan alasan penggunaan swearing words tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teori milik Adoye. Setelah melakukan penelitian, peneliti menemukan 109 swearing words yang terdiri dari 11 kata umpatan. Swearing words tersebut dikategorikan ke dalam 4 tipe yaitu expletive swearing, abusive swearing, humorous swearing, dan auxiliary swearing; dan alasan yg mempengaruhi penggunaan swearing word yaitu karena mendengar hal yang aneh dan untuk mengekspresikan emosi. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Sociolinguistics is concerned with language as a social and cultural phenomenon. Through sociolinguistics, the researcher was able to determine the types and reason of swearing words as one part of social and cultural aspect in daily verbal interaction. The goals of this research were to classify the types of swearing words and to analyze reasons influencing the characters of the movie to swear in Ted movie. The method was qualitative descriptive. The researcher used this method to classify the types of swearing words using Anderson and Trudgill theory, while the reason of swearing words was analyzed using Adoye’s theory. After conducting the analysis the researcher found 109 swearing words consisted 11 kinds of words. Those swearing words were categorized into four types namely expletive swearing, abusive swearing, humorous swearing, and auxiliary swearing. Then the reasons of influencing the character of the movie to swear were hearing something strange and expressing emotion. |
