Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Bakteri Aeromonas hydrophila dapat menyebabkan penyakit Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia (MAS) pada berbagai jenis ikan air tawar termasuk lele. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan daya tahan dan faktor daya tahan Lele Masamo dan Lele Sangkuriang yang diinjeksi secara intramuskular dengan suspensi A. hydrophila. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari dua perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Mortalitas ikan diamati setiap hari dan pada hari ke 7 setelah diinjeksi, sampel darah ikan diambil untuk pengamatan hematokrit dan titer antibodi. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa injeksi A. hydrophila menurunkan sintasan Lele Masamo dan Lele Sangkuriang namun tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata antar sintasan kedua jenis lele tersebut. Titer antibodi kedua jenis lele tersebut relatif sama sebelum injeksi bakteri. Setelah infeksi A. hydrophila Lele Sangkuriang menunjukkan titer antibodi yang jauh lebih tinggi dibandingkan titer antibodi Lele Masamo. Lele Sangkuriang mempunyai nilai hematokrit yang lebih tinggi dibanding nilai hematokrit Lele Masamo baik sebelum dan sesudah injeksi.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Aeromonas hydrophila is a causative agent of Motile Aeromonads Septicaemia (MAS) disease in freshwater fish culture, including catfish. This study was aimed at comparing defense and several immune factors of Masamo and Sangkuriang catfish against intramuscularly injection by A. hydrophila. This experiment was conducted based on randomized experimental design which consisted of two treatments and five replicates. Fish mortality was examined daily and at day 7 post injection blood sample was collected for antibody titer and hematocrit measurement. Result showed that the bacterial injection decreased survival rate of the fish. However, there was no a significant difference between survival rates of the two catfishes. Before bacterial injection, Masamo and Sangkuriang catfish had relatively similar level of antibody titer. After bacterial injection, Sangkuriang catfish showed higher level of antibody titer than its counterpart did. Sangkuriang catfish also had higher level of hematocrit before and after bacterial injection than masamo catfish.
