| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini berjudul “Interpersonal Meaning Analysis of an Interview Transcript: “Hillary Clinton Final Interview as Secretary of State” in Nightline Program on January 29th, 2013”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan fstruktur mood pada transkrip wawancara terakhir Hillary Clinton dan untuk menemukan makna interpersonal pada transkrip wawancara terakhir Hillary Clinton bagian tragedy Benghazi pada 29 Januari 2013. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai kajian wacana yang merujuk pada fungsi sistemis ilmu bahasa. Penelitian ini berkenaan tentang bagaimana suatu makna direalisasikan pada teks. Fungsi sistemis ilmu bahasa meliputi tiga metafungsi; makna interpersonal, ideasional, dan tekstual. Penelitian ini menganalisis tentang fungsi pertukaran bahasa, struktur dan elemen mood berdasarkan pada teori Halliday. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan total datanya berjumlah 1 transkrip wawancara (55 kalimat) yang ditemukan di situs abcnews.go.com. Penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa tahapan pengumpulan data: pertama, peneliti mencari data dari situs abcnews.go.com, kedua , peneliti mendapat transkrip wawancara “Hillary Clinton Final Interview as Secretary of State” di acara Nightline pada 29 Januari 2013. Kemudian, peneliti memilih bagian tragedy Benghazi. Setelah mendapatkan data, peneliti menganalisa struktur mood, and maknanya berdasarkan struktur mood. Hasil penelitian menunjukan makna interpersonal dalam transkrip wawancara bagian tragedy Benghazi berdasarkan struktur mood. Proposisi deklaratif adalah yang paling dominan muncul dalam struktur mood. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa para pembicara memberikan informasi di dalam dialog. Secara umum, transkrip wawancara ini tidak hanya memberi informasi tapi juga memberi pengetahuan tentang politik dan keamanan khususnya konflik di negara-negara Timur Tengah. |

Inggris) | The research entitled “Interpersonal Meaning Analysis of an Interview Transcript: “Hillary Clinton Final Interview as Secretary of State” in Nightline Program on January 29th, 2013” is aimed at finding out the structure of mood in the Hillary Clinton final interview transcript and finding out the interpersonal meaning the Hillary Clinton final interview transcript part Benghazi tragedy on January 29th, 2013. The research belongs to discourse study which refers to the systemic functional linguistics. It concerns with how the meaning are realized in a text. It explains three metafunction; interpersonal, ideational, and textual meaning. This research analyzed interpersonal meaning in the interview transcript such as mood polarity, modality and the meaning based on Halliday’s theory. Then, the research belongs to descriptive qualitative method and total number of data is one transcript interview (55 sentences) which has been found in website abcnews.go.com. The research used several steps to get the data: first, the researcher looked for the data from abcnews.go.com, second, the researcher got interview transcript: “Hillary Clinton Final Interview as Secretary of State” in Nightline Program on January 29th, 2013. Then, the researcher chosen part Benghazi tragedy. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed the mood polarity and modality, and meaning based on polarity and modality. The result shows the interpersonal meaning in the transcript Benghazi tragedy based on structure of mood. Declarative proposition is the most dominant in the transcript. It shows the speakers or the interviewee give information in the dialogue. Mood polarity is also the most dominant in this transcript. It shows the speakers certainty about statements they said. Generally, this transcript not only gives information, but also give some knowledge about politics and security especially conflict in Middle East countries. |
