Hal tersebutmengakibatkanorganisme yang mencarimakan di sedimensepertikepitingmemilikipeluang yang besaruntukterpaparlogamberat, sehinggadapatdijadikansebagaiindikatorpencemaran.Tujuanpenelitianadalahuntukmengetahuikadarlogamberatkadmium (Cd) padasedimendankepiting, mengetahuipengetahuanmasyarakattentangsumberpencemaranlogamberat Cd di SegaraAnakanCilacap, danhubunganantarakadarlogamberat Cd padasedimendankepitingsertapengetahuanmasyarakattentangpencemarannya di SegaraAnakanCilacap. PenelitiandilakukanpadabulanFebruari-April 2013dengantiga kali ulangan.Sampeldiambilpadatigadaerahdanterdiriatasdaerahbarat(SA-2-24 dan SA-1-10), daerahtengah (SA-2-28 dan SA-3-46), dandaerahtimur(SA-3-5 dan SA-3-16).Kadar logamberat Cd padasedimendankepitingdiukurdengan AAS.PengetahuanmasyarakatdiukurdenganmenggunakanskalaLikert.Hasilpenelitianmenunjukkanbahwakadarlogamberat Cd padasedimenmasihbaik(>800 ppb). Padadaerahtimur, kadarlogamberat Cd yang cukuptinggiditemukan di stasiun SA-3-5 (19,4 ppb) dan SA-3-16 (15,8 ppb); daerahtengahyaitustasiun SA-2-28 (17,8 ppb) dan SA-3-46 (12 ppb); daerahbaratyaitustasiun SA-2-24 (13,3 ppb), danstasiun SA-1-10 (11,2 ppb). Kadar logamberat Cd padakepitingmasihbaikjuga (>1.000 ppb).Padadaerahtimur, kadarlogamberat Cd yang tinggiditemukan di stasiun SA-3-5 (16,1 ppb), sedangkan di stasiun SA-3-16 rendah (9,8 ppb). Padadaerahtengah, kadarlogamberat Cd tertinggipadastasiun SA-2-28 (22 ppb), sedangkanstasiun SA-3-46 (9,3 ppb). Padadaerahbarat, kadarlogamberat Cd rendahdiduastasiun (SA-2-24 dan SA-1-10) yaitusebesar 10,3 ppb. Masyarakat yang tinggal di daerahbaratdantengahmemilikipengetahuankurangbaiktentangsumberpencemaran (90% dan 97%), sedangkandaerahtimurmemilkipengetahuanbaiktentangsumberpencemaran(95%). Kadar logamberat Cd padakepitingcenderunglebihrendahdibandingkandengankadarlogamberat Cd padasedimen. Padadaerahtimur, pengetahuanmasyarakattentangsumberpencemarancukupbaikkarenapencemaranlogamberat Cd bukanberasaldarimasyarakattetapiberasaldariindustri.Padadaerahtengahdanbarat,pengetahuanmasyarakattentangsumberpencemarankurangbaik, sehinggamasyarakat yang ada di daerahtersebutberperansebagaisumberpencemaranlogamberat Cd.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Heavy metals in waters easily bind organic substances and settle down in sediment which allow the content of heavy metals in sediment is higher than that of in the water. This causes organisms which seek for food in the sediment like crabs more likely to get exposed by heavy metals. Consequently, it can be used as a contamination indicator. This research is aimed at identifying the content of heavy metal namely cadmium (Cd) contained in sediment and crabs, identifying people’s knowledge on the source of Cd contamination in sediments and crabs in SegaraAnakanCilacap and the correlation of the content of Cd heavy metal in sediments, crabs, and people’s knowledge on its contamination in SegaraAnakanCilacap.The research was conducted during February-April 2013 by three times repetition. The samples were taken in three areas where comprised western area (SA-2-24 and SA-1-10), middle area (SA-2-28 and SA-3-46), and eastern area (SA-3-5 and SA-3-16). The content of Cd heavy metal in sediments and crabs was measured by AAS. Meanwhile, the people’s knowledge was measured by applying Likert scale. The result showed that the content of Cd in sediments is good (>800 ppb). In eastern area, the relatively high content of Cd was found in station SA-3-5 (19.4 ppb) and SA-3-16 (15.8 ppb); middle area covers station SA-2-28 (17.8 ppb) and SA-3-46 (12 ppb); western area includes station SA-2-24 (13.3 ppb), and station SA-1-10 (11.2 ppb). The content of Cd in crabs is still good also (> 1,000 ppb). In eastern area, the highest content of Cd was found in SA 3-5 (16.1 ppb) while station SA-3-16 is lower (9.8 ppb). In middle area, the highest content of Cd was found in station SA-2-28 (22 ppb) while station SA 3-46 is lower (9.3 ppb). In western area, the content of Cd is relatively lower at the both of station SA 2-24 and SA-1-10 (10.3 ppb). People who live in western and middle areas have low knowledge about contamination source (90% and 97%) while the people of eastern area has good knowledge of contamination source (95%). The content of Cd in crabs tends to be lower than the content of Cd in sediments. In eastern area, the people’s knowledge of contamination source is relatively good because the metal contamination comes fromindustrial waste rather than household. In middle and western areas, the people knowledge of the contamination source has low, thus the local people contribute to the contamination of Cd.
