| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Kadmium adalah salah satu logam berat yang berbahaya di lingkungan. Kadmium berpengaruh terhadap manusia dalam jangka waktu panjang dan dapat terakumulasi pada tubuh. Azotobacter diketahui mampu mengadsorbsi Cd. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan Azotobacter spp. dalam mengadsorpsi kadmium, konsentrasi tertinggi yang dapat diadsorpsi oleh isolat Azotobacter terpilih dan kemampuan isolat Azotobacter sp. dalam menghasilkan EPS. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan perlakuan berbagai konsentrasi Cd yang diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam pada tingkat kepercayaan 95% dan 99 %. Identifikasi isolat Azotobacter mengacu pada Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology. Hasil penelitian didapatkan sebanyak 6 isolat Azotobacter yang tahan terhadap Cd. Konsentrasi Cd berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap isolat Azotobacter RT5-1 dalam mengadsorpsi Cd tetapi Azotobacter sp. RT5-1 mampu menurunkan kadmium hingga 53,55%. Isolat Azotobacter sp. RT5-1 mampu menghasilkan EPS bekisar antara 0,0083-0,0277 gram. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Cadmium is one of the dangerous heavy metals in the environment. Cd affects on humans health in the long term and it can accumulate in the body. Azotobacter is known to be able to adsorb Cd. The aims of this study were to determine the ability of Azotobacter spp. to adsorb cadmium, the highest concentration of Cd that can be adsorbed by selected Azotobacter isolate and the ability of Azotobacter sp. to produce EPS. This study used completely randomized design with various concentrations of Cd. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at confidence level of 95 % and 99 %. Identification of Azotobacter isolates referred to Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology. The results found 6 isolates of Azotobacter which resistant to Cd. Cd concentrations were not affected to Azotobacter isolate RT5 - 1 in the adsorption of Cd, but Azotobacter sp. RT5 - 1 was able to decrease cadmium up to 53,55%. Azotobacter sp. RT5 - 1 was capable of producing EPS ranged between 0.0083 to 0.0277 g. |
