Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)The function of mangrove forests has changed into fishponds and the change increased rapidly in 1980-2000. Consequently, there are many abandoned fishponds that need for restoration by a silvofishery system to recover the mangrove ecosystem. This research is aimed at finding the concentration of Cadmium (Cd) in silvofishery and non-silvofishery ponds, analysis the community structure of the mangrove forest, analysis the society perception towards the restoration and to analysis the correlation between those variabels. The sample of Cd is taken from the water, soil, and Rhizophora mucronata leaves and then they are analysed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. On the other hand, the community structure of the mangrove forest is calculated by a squares method to know the species richness, the density, and the distribution pattern. In addition, there are 30 respondents who fill in the questionnaire of society perception. The result shows that the cocentration of Cd in silvofishery pond (0.063 ppb in the waters, 22.702 ppb in the soil, and 16.586 ppb in the leaves) is lower than the Cd concentration in non-silvofishery pond (0.210 ppb in the waters, 129.376 ppb in the soil). This is because mangrove can absorb and sink the Cd by the process of amelioration. The species richness are Rhizophora mucronata and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, and the density of Rhizophora mucronata is higher than Bruguiera gymnorrhiza. Then, there is a random distribution pattern of Rhizophora mucronata in the silvofishery pond since the pond is in the category of normal, whereas the non-silvofishery pond has no mangroves. Next, there is a good to very good perception from the society who live around the silvofishery areas and this is because they understand that the restoration can save the mangrove ecosystem, whereas the people living in the non-silvofishery areas give less good perception. In general, the Cd concentration in the silvofishery pond is low and tends to get lower because there is a process of Cd accumulation from the water to the soil and the leaves, and thus the society perception is good to very good; and, conversely, the Cd concentration in the non-silvofishery pond is high and tends to be higher and this makes the society give less perception.
