| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “The Description of American Social Classes in F.S Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby” bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kelas sosial di Amerika yang terjadi di dalam novel The Great Gatsby oleh FS Fitsgerald. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti mencari tahu kelas - kelas sosial di Amerika pada tahun 1920 seperti yang tergambarkan dalam FS fitzgerald The Great Gatsby. Dalam penelitian ini, metode kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis kelas sosial yang muncul antara karakter tingkat kelas. Sumber data utama pada novel ini adalah novel The Great Gatsby yang dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi. Novel The Great Gatsby menunjukkan pada pembaca tentang potret gaya hidup di America pada tahun 1920 yang ditandai dengan adanya kebangkitan revolusi industri di Inggris dan Amerika. Kondisi ini memicu adanya generasi baru yang memiliki gaya hidup glamor dan mewah. Kemajuan ekonomi Amerika mengakibatkan adanya orang kaya baru yang berasal dari kelas bawah ke kelas tingkat atas. |

Inggris) | The research entitled “The Description of American Social Classes in F.S Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby “ is aimed to describe the American social classes in novel The Great Gatsby by FS Fitzgerald. In this research, the researcher is to find out the social classes in America during 1920 as it is seen in the F.S Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby. In this research, the qualitative method is applied to analyze the social class which appears between the character class level. The main data of this research is the Great Gatsby novel which is analyzed using the sociological approach. The Great Gatsby novel shows to the reader about the picture of American life style in 1920 which remarked the rise of revolution industry in England and America. This condition bring a new generation who have a glamorous and luxurious style. The increasing of American economic has brought the new rich people from the lower class to the upper level class. |
