| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul Kinesic Analysis of Facial Expressions Shown by Tom and Jerry in Tom and Jerry Tales menganalisis ekspresi wajah yang ditunjukkan Tom dan Jerry dalam film Tom and Jerry Tales dan mendeskripsikan implementasinya dalam konteks SPEAKING. Data dari penelitian ini adalah ekspresi wajah yang ditunjukkan oleh Tom dan Jerry dalam keseharian mereka. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Data penelitian dianalisis berdasarkan kualifikasi ekspresi wajah oleh Ekman dan Friesen. Dari 28 ekspresi wajah yang ditunjukkan oleh Tom dan Jerry, peneliti menemukan 6 ekspresi terkejut, 5 ekspresi takut, 1 ekspresi jijik, 2 ekspresi muak, 5 ekspresi marah, 5 ekspresi senang, dan 4 ekspresi sedih. Faktor faktor SPEAKING yang ditemukan adalah; Scene and setting percakapan dilakukan di rumah empunya Tom. Participants atau orang yang terlibat dalam percakapan adalah Tom dan Jerry. Ends dari percakapan adalah representative and directive. Acts of Sequences yang paling sering digunakan oleh Tom dan Jerry adalah daily situation. Keys dari percakapan antara lain enthusiastic, serious, high tune, dan low tune. Instrumentality dari percakapan adalah oral speech karena partisipan berada di tempat yang sama. Selainjutnya, Norms of Interaction and Interpretation dari percakapan adalah informing dan expressing. Faktor terakhir yaitu Genre. Genre yang paling sering dugunakan adalah informal occasion. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research is about a sociolinguistic study of facial expressions shown by Tom and Jerry in Tom and Jerry Tales. This research is purposed to describe and identify the facial expressions shown by Tom and Jerry in Tom and Jerry Tales and its implementation in context of SPEAKING. The analyzed data sources in this research are the facial expressions shown by Tom and Jerry in their daily life. Qualitative descriptive approach is used in this research. The population of this research is captured pictures of Tom and Jerry in Tom and Jerry Tales. The collected data are analyzed to find out the classification of facial expressions by Ekman and Friesen. The result of the research shows there are 28 facial expressions shown by Tom and Jerry. They are 6 surprise, 5 fear, 1 disgust, 2 contempt, 5 anger, 5 happiness, and 4 sadness. Based on the context of SPEAKING purposed by Hymess, most Scene and setting of the dialogues is Tom’s master house. The Participants of these conversations are Tom and Jerry. The Ends are mainly representative and directive. In addition, the Acts of Sequences which are mostly used by Tom and Jerry are daily situation. The Keys of conversation are varied, such as enthusiastic, serious, high tune, and low tune. The Instrumentality used in the conversations is oral speech because the participants are in the same place. Besides, the Norms of Interaction and Interpretation of the conversations are informing and expressing. The Genre which is mostly used by Tom and Jerry is informal occasion. |
