Kata kunci: metaphor, tenor, vehicle, interpretive metaphor, direct meaning metaphor, modulated metaphor Penelitian ini yang berjudul analisis metafora dalam album Roxette “The Ballad Hits 2002”, yang menganalisis tentang artis kiasan dari lirik, termasuk analisis tentang jenis-jenis bentuk metafora dan perluasan arti dari bentuk metafora. Pendekatan tekstual diterapkan dalam menganalisis vehicle dan tenor dalam lirik yang mengandung unsur metafora. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan perwujudan makna konotatif dari bentuk metafora. Data primer diambil dari lirik lagu Roxette “The Ballad Hits”, sedangkan data sekunder diambil dari sumber-sumber lain yang berkaitan dengan teori metafora sebagai bahasa kiasan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 38 lirik yang mempunyai makna metafora dalam lirik album Roxette “The Ballad Hits”. Bentuk-bentuk metafora dikategorikan menjadi 3 jenis, yaitu metafora interpretif, metafora langsung ( direct meaning), dan metafora modulasi. Terdapat 21 bentuk metafora interpretif, yang mana diinterpretasikan alat/sarana (vehicle) berdasarkan penafsiran terkait dengan simbolik. 16 bentuk metafora langsung (direct meaning) yang telah dianalisis, dimana analisis tenor berkaitan dengan karakteristik atau rasa secara harfiah. Terakhir, ada satu bentuk metafora modulasi yang dianalisis berdasarkan makna yang terkait langsung dengan vehicle yang mewakili makna tenor itu sendiri. |

The textual approach is applied in analyzing the vehicle and the tenor of metaphorical lyrics. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that describes the phenomenon of the connotative meaning behind the metaphorical form. The primary data is taken from Roxette’s “The Ballad Hits” lyrics, whereas the secondary data is taken from external resources relates to the theory of Metaphor as figurative language. The result of this research shows that there are 38 forms of metaphorical lyrics in Roxette’s “The Ballad Hits” Album. Those metaphorical forms are categorized into three types of metaphor, namely interpretive metaphor, direct meaning metaphor, and modulated metaphor. There are 21 forms of interpretive metaphors, which the interpretation on the vehicles are based on the interpretation related to the symbolical meaning. The 16 forms of direct meaning metaphors are analyzed, which the analysis of tenor is related to the characteristic or the sense of literal meaning. Then, one form of modulated metaphor is analyzed based on the indirect related meaning of the vehicle that is represented the meaning of the tenor itself. |
