| Judul Artikel | An Analysis of the Associative Meanings in the Lyrics of Linkin Park’ Songs in Hybrid Theory Album |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu tipe-tipe makna asosiatif dan fungsi-fungsi dari makna asosiatif tersebut yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Linkin Park di album Hybrid Theory. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti menggunakan teknik purposive sampling untuk mengambil data dengan proses menyeleksi data berdasarkan apa yang dibutuhkan dalam penelitian. Data dari penelitian ini adalah lirik dari lagu-lagu Linkin Park yang terdapat dalam album Hybrid Theory. Sementara itu sample penelitan adalah lirik-lirik yang mengandung makna asosiatif berdasarkan teori dari Leech. Setelah melakukan analisa, peneliti menemukan bahwa semua tipe makna asosiatif yang dikemukakan oleh Leech terdapat di dalam penelitian ini. Tipe-tipe itu adalah: Makna Konotatif (37), Makna Stylistic (8), Makna Afektif (28), Makna Reflektif (18), dan Makna Kolokatif (9). Peneliti juga menemukan beberapa fungsi dari berbagai tipe makna asosiatif tersebut, yaitu: Makna Konotatif yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan sesuatu yang maknanya lebih dari sekedar makna yang terdapat di dalam kamus, Makna Stylistic yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan gaya berbahasa yang muncul dalam pemakaiannya, Makna Afektif yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan perasaan atau emosi dari pengguna bahasa, Makna Reflektif yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan makna baru yang timbul dalam pemakaian bahasa, dan Makna Kolokatif yang berfungsi untuk menyampaikan asosiasi dari kata-kata yang cenderung berhubungan dengan lingkup kata-kata lain. Makna Konotatif memiliki jumlah temuan terbanyak karena dalam album Hybrid Theory banyak terdapat kata-kata konotatif, dan Makna Sylistic mempunyai jumlah temuan paling sedikit karna hanya sedikit kata-kata yang mengandung makna Stylistic dalam album ini. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The purposes of this research are to find out the types of associative meanings and the functions of those associative meanings that exist in the lyrics of Linkin Park’s songs in Hybrid Theory album. The method that is used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used purposive sampling technique to take the sample that means the process of selecting sample based on the need of the research. The data of this research are all of the lyrics of Linkin Park’s songs in Hybrid Theory Album, while the samples of this research are the lyrics that contain associative meanings based on Leech’s theory. After conducting the analysis, the researcher found that all of the types of Leech’s associative meanings theory are in the data. Those types are: Connotative Meaning (37), Stylistic Meaning (8), Affective Meaning (28), Reflected Meaning (18), and Collocative Meaning (9). Also, the researcher found several functions of those types of associative meanings, which are: Connotative Meaning which is to communicate something more than the meaning that exists in dictionary, Stylistic Meaning which is to convey the stylistic style which appears in language, Affective Meaning which is to communicate the feeling or emotion of the speaker or writer, Reflected Meaning which is to deliver the new sense of a word that relates to another phenomenon in the same expression, and Collocative Meaning which is to convey the associate of words which tends to occur in the environment of another word. Connotative Meaning has the highest number in this research because Hybrid Theory consists of many Connotative Meanings, and Stylistic is the lowest because there is just a little Stylistic Style in this album. |
