Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Red onion empirically been shown to have efficacy as antidiabetic. Red onion which is known to contain the flavonoid quercetin which has potential to reduce hyperglycemia. Diabetes is a disease associated with elevated levels of glucose in the blood due to insulin deficiency. This study aims to get a tablet formula of ethanol extract of red onion with agar powder to fill the requirements of the standard dosage tablets and determine the effect of concentration variations of agar powder as a binder to the physical properties of tablets.
The making of the tablets using wet granulation method. The physical test of the tablet include covering physical appearance, hardness test, friability, uniformity of size, uniformity of weight and disintegration time. Each tablet formulation using different variations of agar powder, with a concentration of 0,5; 0,75; 1,0; 1,25; 1,5 and 2,0. Analysis of the data using one-way ANOVA with a level of 95%.
The results showed that the ethanol extract of red onion tablet has physical characteristics that qualify the physical properties of the tablet, and from the data obtained, it can be concluded that the increased levels of flour to the onion ethanol extracts tablet no significant effect on the physical properties of tablets that have been made. This can be seen in the results of the study are not uniform.
