| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Artikel hasil penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan mendeskripsikan signifikansi keberadaan kelompok WASP sebagai pemicu adanya perjuangan hak-hak sipil di Amerika Serikat yang merepresentasikan perjuangan kelompok minoritas dalam The Civil Rights Movement tahun 1960an. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, paradigma nonpositivisme, khususnya konstruktivisme dan perspektif post-strukturalisme melalui pendekatan hermeneutik dengan teknik analisis Hermeneutik Gadamerian. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan adanyan signifikansi peran WASP sebagai kelompok mayoritas yang memicu terjadinya gerakan The Civil Rights Movement tahun 1960-an di Amerika. Hal tersebut dengan jelas terlihat dalam bentuk dominasi WASP diberbagai bidang yang sangat signifikan dalam kehidupan masyrakat yaitu dalam bidang pemerintahan, bidang ekonomi, dan bidang pendidikan. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini juga menyimpulkan bahwa The Civil Rights Movement merupakan representasi perlawanan kelompok minoritas terhadap dominasi WASP sebagai kelompok mayoritas. Represetasi perlawanan tersebut terlihat dari empat bentuk strategi gerakan yang dilakukan oleh kelompok minoritas untuk mencapai hak-hak mereka sebagai warga sipil yaitu perlawanan melalui aksi boikot terhadap fasilitas publik, aksi demonstrasi massal secara damai, advokasi terhadap peraturan pemerintah, dan perlawanan melalui diplomasi kepemimpinan. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research-based paper aims to explaining and describing the significance of the WASP group existence as a trigger of the civil right struggle in the United State which representing of minority group struggle in The Civil Rights Movement in 1960s. This study uses qualitative methods with nonpositivisme paradigm, especially constructivism and post-structuralism perspective, thrpugh hermeneutics as its approach were analyzed using analysis of Gadamerian Hermeunetics. The results of this research proves the significance of the WASP role as the majority group triggered movement of The Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s in America. It is clearly visible in the form of domination in various fields that WASP is very significant in the lives of the people in the areas of governance, economics, and education. In addition, the results of this research also concluded that The Civil Rights Movement represented the resistance of minority groups against the dominance WASP as the majority group. The resistance represented by four forms of movement strategies were conducted by minority groups to achieve their rights as civilians i.e. resistance via boycott against public facilities, mass demonstrations in a peaceful action, advocacy against government regulations, and resistance through leadership diplomacy. |
