| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian berjudul Produksi Semen Segar dan Semen Beku Sapi Pejantan dengan Body Condition Score (BCS) yang Berbeda Di Balai Inseminasi Buatan Lembang dilaksanakan dari tanggal 1 sampai 7 Maret 2013. Tujuan penelitian tersebut untuk mengetahui pengaruh BCS terhadap produksi semen segar, mengetahui pengaruh BCS terhadap produksi semen beku, dan mengetahui BCS pejantan yang ideal untuk dijadikan sebagai produsen semen yang baik. Materi yang digunakan adalah catatan produksi (recording) pejantan dewasa dengan umur 4 - 5 tahun. Metode penelitian dengan metode survei, dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan “purposive sampling”. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu 12 ekor pejantan dengan bangsa yang berbeda. Bangsa yang ditentukan dalam penelitian adalah Simmental, Limousin, FH, dan Brahman yang memiliki BCS sedang (4), optimum (5 - 7) dan gemuk (8 - 9). Variabel yang diukur yaitu produksi semen segar, konsentrasi spermatozoa, dan produksi semen beku. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi General Linier Model dan diuji lanjut dengan uji Beda Nyata Jujur (BNJ). Hasil analisis variansi menunjukkan bahwa BCS tidak berpengaruh nyata (P > 0,05) terhadap produksi semen segar, konsentrasi spermatozoa, dan produksi semen beku antar bangsa, sedangkan BCS berpengaruh sangat nyata (P < 0,01) terhadap produksi semen segar, konsentrasi spermatozoa, dan produksi semen beku dalam bangsa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian adalah pejantan dengan BCS optimum memiliki produksi semen segar tertinggi, pejantan dengan BCS sedang memiliki konsentrasi spermatozoa tertinggi, dan pejantan dengan BCS gemuk memiliki memiliki produksi semen beku terendah. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | A study entitled Fresh Semen Production and Frozen Semen Of Bulls with Different Body Condition Score (BCS) In Lembang Artificial Insemination Centres was conducted from 1st until 7th March 2013. The purposes of research were to determine the effect of body condition score (BCS) on fresh semen production, frozen semen production and knowing ideal BCS of bulls to produce semen. Data on BCS of bulls age 4 – 5 years old were selected using purposive sampling method. A total samples of 12 bulls with different breed and BCS were used. The choosen breeds were Simmental, Limousin, FH, and Brahman which hade moderate BCS (4), optimum BCS (5 - 7) and fat BCS (8 - 9). Variable of this research were production of fresh semen, spermatozoa concentration, and production of frozen semen. The obtained data were analyzed using General Linier Model (GLM) and were tested further by using Honestly Significant Difference (HSD). The results showed that BCS didn’t influence (P > 0,05) the production of fresh semen, the concentration of spermatozoa, and the production of frozen semen among breeds. Meanwhile, the BCS significant by influenced (P < 0,01) the production of fresh semen, the concentration of spermatozoa, and the production of frozen semen in the same types of breeds. In conclusion, the bulls with optimum BCS led to the highest production of fresh semen, the bulls with moderate BCS contribute to the highest concentration of spermatozoa, and the bulls with fat BCS contribute to the lowest production of frozen semen. |
