| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Geriatric patients are at risk of receiving Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIMs) due to the increasing complexity of their treatment regimens, which is associated with physiological changes, an increase in comorbidities, and a tendency toward polypharmacy. PIMs can increase the risk of adverse drug reactions, hospitalization, and a decline in quality of life. One of the tools that can be used to identify PIMs is the STOPP criteria version 3. This study aims to determine the profile of medication use, the incidence of PIMs, and the types of medications classified as PIMs among geriatric patients enrolled in the Prolanis program at the Sokaraja 1 Public Health Center. This study is an observational study with a retrospective design using medical record data from Prolanis geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension at the Sokaraja 1 Public Health Center and Karya Sehat Pharmacy from October 2025 to March 2026. The study sample consisted of 102 patients selected using simple random sampling. The data were analyzed descriptively based on the STOPP criteria version 3. A total of 62 patients (60.78%) were identified as having PIMs, with a total of 80 cases. PIMs were most frequently found in the endocrine system with 33 cases (41.25%), followed by the renal system with 20 cases (25.00%), the cardiovascular system with 19 cases (23.75%), the coagulation system with 7 cases (8.75%), and the indication of medication category with 1 case (1.25%). Glimepiride was the drug most frequently associated with PIMs, followed by spironolactone, aspirin, and metformin. This study shows that more than half of geriatric patients were found to have PIMs. These findings highlight the importance of periodic therapy evaluations to improve the safety and appropriateness of medication use in geriatric patients. |
