| Judul Artikel | Optimasi Kinerja Sistem Multi Soil Layering (MSL) Terhadap Penurunan Kadar Amonia, Nitrit, dan Nitrat Limbah Cair Terasi |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Limbah cair terasi merupakan salah satu limbah industri pengolahan hasil perikanan yang mengandung senyawa nitrogen, seperti amonia, nitrit, dan nitrat yang berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila dibuang tanpa melalui proses pengolahan dengan baik. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk pengolahan limbah cair terasi adalah Multi Soil Layering (MSL) yaitu pengolahan limbah cair organik yang menggunakan tanah sebagai media utama untuk mengurangi kandungan pencemar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kecepatan pengisian dan kecepatan aerasi optimum air limbah, serta efisiensi sistem MSL dalam menurunkan kadar amonia, nitrit, dan nitrat limbah cair terasi. Air limbah dialirkan ke dalam sistem MSL dengan variasi kecepatan pengisian yaitu 160, 320, 480, 640, dan 800 L.m-2hari-1 serta dengan penambahan variasi aerasi yaitu 0, 2, 4 dan 6 L/menit. Analisis data pada penelitian menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil pengujian kecepatan pengisian optimum pada 320 L.m-2hari-1 dengan persentase penurunan kadar amonia, nitrit dan nitrat sebesar 90,34%; 96,85%; dan -122,18%. Aerasi optimum diperoleh pada aerasi 6 L/menit dengan persentase penurunan kadar amonia, nitrit, dan nitrat sebesar 93,68%; 95,94%; dan -115,29%. Efisiensi sistem MSL dalam menurunkan kadar amonia, nitrit dan nitrat limbah cair terasi berturut-turut sebesar 92,52%; 95,41%; dan 124,45%. Peningkatan kadar nitrat menunjukkan bahwa proses nitrifikasi di zona aerob berjalan dengan optimal, namun tingginya pasokan oksigen dan cepatnya laju aliran mengganggu terbentuknya kondisi anaerob yang dibutuhkan untuk proses denitrifikasi. Secara keseluruhan, sistem MSL terbukti efektif untuk mengurangi kadar amonia dan nitrit pada limbah cair terasi. |

Inggris) | Shrimp paste wastewater is one of the fishery processing industry wastes containing nitrogen compounds, such as ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, which potentially pollute the environment if discharged without a proper treatment process. One of the methods that can be used for treating shrimp paste wastewater is Multi Soil Layering (MSL), a wastewater treatment method that enhances soil functions for wastewater purification. This study aims to determine the optimum hydraulic loading rate and aeration rate of wastewater into the MSL system, as well as the efficiency of the MSL system in reducing ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels in shrimp paste wastewater. The wastewater was flowed into the MSL system with variations in hydraulic loading rate of 160, 320, 480, 640, and 800 L.m-2day-1, along with the addition of aeration variations of 0, 2, 4, and 6 L/minute. Data analysis in this study was conducted using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The test results showed that the optimum hydraulic loading rate was achieved at 320 L.m⁻²day⁻¹ with percentage reductions in ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels of 90,34%, 96,85%, and -122,18%, respectively. The optimum aeration was obtained at an aeration rate of 6 L/minute with percentage reductions in ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels of 93,68%, 95,94%, and -115,29%. Efficiency of the MSL system in reducing ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels of shrimp paste wastewater during the optimum operational period was 92,52%, 95,41%, and -124,45%. This increase in nitrate levels indicates that the nitrification process in the aerobic zone ran optimally, but the high oxygen supply and fast flow rate disrupted the formation of anaerobic conditions required for the denitrification process. Overall, the MSL system proved effective in reducing ammonia and nitrite in shrimp paste wastewater. |
