| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Artikel ilmiah ini berjudul Demokratisasi melalui Media Sosial di Mesir tahun 2004-2011. Tujuan dari Penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran kepada pembaca bagaimana Media sosial sebagai produk media baru dapat berperan sebagai salah satu kekuatan politik di dunia khususnya di Mesir dan telah berhasil membantu proses demokratisasi Mesir. Media sosial sebagai sebuah bentuk media baru telah berhasil dimanfaatakan untuk kepentingan berjalannya Ruang publik masyarakat Mesir. Kehadiran media sosial Facebook,Myspace dan Youtube membawa era baru dalam proses perkembangan ruang public demokratis di Mesir. Lewat Media social, Facebook,Myspace dan Youtube, masyarakat Mesir berhasil menemukan ruang publik baru mereka yang selama ini terkekang oleh kekuasaan otoriter rezim Husni Mubarak. Lewat media sosial Facebook,Myspace dan Youtube inilah kemudian wacana kritis masyarakat Mesir menemukan ruang untuk berkembang kea rah yang lebih demokratis. Lewat ruang publik di Media Sosial inilah mereka dapat bersama-sama memperjuangkan demokratisasi mereka. Perjalanan media sosial sendiri menjadi sebuah ruang publik demokratis di Mesir melalui proses yang amat panjang yang telah dimulai dari tahun 2004 hingga berhasil menjadikan media sosial sebagai ruang publik modern yang populer pada tahun 2011 dengan segala faktor yang menjadi pendukung maupun penghambat terciptanya ruang public yang lebih demokratis di Mesir. Melalui media sosial pula lah masyarakat Mesir pada akhirnya berhasil menjatuhkan rezim Husni Mubarak. Dan melakukan uprising di Mesir menuju negara Mesir yang lebih demokratis |

The purpose of this study is to give an overview to the reader how Media social as a product of new media can act as a political force in the world, especially in Egypt and have succeeded for helping the democratization procces of Egypt. Social Media as a new form of media has managed to useful for the benefit of public Spaces of society in Egypt.. Social media presence on Facebook, Myspace and Youtube brings new era in the development of the democratic process of public space in Egypt. Through social Media, Facebook, Myspace and Youtube, the public of Egypt managed to find their new public spaces for unfettered by of authoritarian regimes rule Husni Mubarak. Through social media, Facebook, Myspace and Youtube this is a critical public discourse then Egypt found the space to develop way to more democratic. Through a public space in Social Media that they can together fight for democratization. Social media's own journey into a democratic public space in Egypt through a very long process that has been started from 2004 to successfully make social media as a popular modern public space in 2011, with all the factors that support or barrier to the creation of a more democratic public space in Egypt.
