| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Saat ini gaya hidup metroseksual telah muncul di berbagai kalangan, termasuk di kalangan mahasiswa Unsoed yang berada di kota Purwokerto yang relatif kecil. Pada sosok mahasiswa metroseksual memiliki simbol-simbol gaya hidup serta konsep ‘diri’ yang berbeda dengan mahasiswa pada umumnya. Oleh karena itu, untuk mengetahui simbol-simbol serta konsep ‘diri’ yang dimiliki mahasiswa metroseksual maka dilakukan suatu penelitian yang berjudul “Gaya Hidup Pria Metroseksual (Studi Interaksionisme Simbolik tentang Pria Metroseksual di Kalangan Mahasiswa UNSOED Purwokerto)”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana mahasiswa metroseksual memaknai dan menunjukkan simbol-simbol gaya hidup mereka, untuk mengetahui peran significant others dan generelaized others dalam membentuk konsep ‘diri’ mahasiswa metroseksual, untuk mengetahui tahapan perkembangan ‘diri’ yang dialami mahasiswa metroseksual.Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pemilihan informannya menggunakan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tiga teknik yaitu wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik untuk mendapatkan validitas data menggunakan triangulasi data. Berdasarkan data yang dihimpun selama penelitian berlangsung, dapat ditarik kesimpulan, bahwa terdapat dua simbol gaya hidup yang melekat pada mahasiswa metroseksual yaitu good looking dan narcissim. Konsep diri mahasiswa metroseksual merupakan gambaran diri mereka yang terbentuk dari persepsi atau pandangan orang lain serta pengalaman pribadi masa lalu yang telah dialami mereka, peran significant others bagi mahasiswa metroseksual berasal dari keluarga serta tokoh yang diidolakan, sedangkan peran generelaized others bagi mahasiswa metroseksual berasal dari cara pandang mahasiswa metroseksual terhadap keseluruhan pandangan orang lain terhadap dirinya. Perilaku mahasiswa metroseksual yang selalu peduli terhadap penampilan merupakan perwujudan diri mereka untuk menemukan kepuasan tersendiri di dalam dirinya yang kemudian berpengaruh terhadap kepercayaan diri mereka ketika berinteraksi dengan lingkungan sosialnya. ‘Diri’ mahasiswa metroseksual terbentuk melalui empat tahapan pekembangan diri, yaitu tahap persiapan yang muncul pada masa kanak-kanak, peran significant others pada tahap permainan, generelaized others pada tahap pertandingan, dan selanjutnya muncul reference group dimana ‘diri’ adalah satu orang dalam semua situasi yang ditemuinya. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Metrosexual lifestyle Currently has appeared in various social structure, especially among the college students of University of general Soedirman. Although it’s located in a relatively small town. The figure of metrosexual students have lifestyle symbols and the concept of ‘self’ which is different from other average student. Therefore, to know the symbols and the concept of 'their self' of metrosexual college students me as the writer conducted a study entitled "Metrosexual Men's Lifestyle (Metrosexual Male Studies of Symbolic Interactionism among the college students of University of general Soedirman Purwokerto)". The objective of this study is to find out is how metrosexual students interpret and exhibit the metrosexual symbols of their lifestyle, is to determine the role of significant others and generelaized others in shaping the concept of ‘self’ in metrosexual students, and to understand the stage of development of ‘self’ which experienced by the metrosexual college students of University of General Soedirman.The method used in this study to analyze the data is qualitative method. The Informant selection techniques use purposive sampling. Collecting data process are using three techniques depth interviews, observation and documentation. Techniques used to obtain valid data is using triangulation of data validity. Based on the data collected during the study and research, it can be concluded, that there are two symbols which are attached to metrosexual students lifestyle that is good looking and narcissim. Metrosexual student is a self-concept of self-image of those which formed the perception of others people as well as the personal experience of the past which they have, the role of significant others for metrosexual students come from families and their idolized figures, while generelaized others role for metrosexual college students prespective of others people opinions towards themself. Metrosexual student behavior who always cared about they appearance embodies their concept to find satisfaction which affect their confidence when interacting with the social environment. 'Self' concept of metrosexual students formed through four stages of developments, which appear in the preparation stage of childhood, then the role of significant others appears at the period of play stage, and the generelaized others on game stage, and subsequently appeared the reference group where 'the self' is the one person in all of situation they encountered. |
