Indonesia) | Pembuangan limbah methylene blue ke lingkungan perairan menimbulkan persoalan serius karena sifatnya yang toksik, karsinogenik, serta dapat mengganggu proses fotosintesis organisme akuatik dengan menghalangi cahaya matahari. Metode yang unggul karena efisien, mudah, dan ekonomis untuk menurunkan konsentrasi methylene blue adalah adsorpsi menggunakan material karbon aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik karbon aktif dari ranting teh yang diaktivasi oleh KOH dan Arc Plasma serta kinerja adsorpsinya terhadap methylene blue. Karakterisasi dilakukan menggunakan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), dan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Luas permukaan sampel C1, C2, dan C3 berturut-turut sebesar 642,921; 741,488; dan 369,544 m2/g. Kapasitas adsorpsi MB dari uji adsorpsi pada sampel C3 sebesar 96,440 mg/g. |

Inggris) | The disposal of methylene blue wastewater into aquatic environments poses a serious problem due to its toxic and carcinogenic properties, as well as its ability to disrupt the photosynthesis process of aquatic organisms by blocking sunlight. An effective, simple, and economical method for reducing methylene blue concentration is adsorption using activated carbon materials. This study aims to investigate the characteristics of activated carbon derived from tea twigs activated using KOH and Arc Plasma, as well as its adsorption performance toward methylene blue. Material characterization was carried out using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET), and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analyses. The surface areas of samples C1, C2, and C3 were 642.921, 741.488, and 369.544 m²/g, respectively. The adsorption capacity of methylene blue obtained from adsorption tests for sample C3 reached 96.440 mg/g. |
