Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Paparan radiasi sinar ultraviolet (UV) secara berlebihan dapat menyebabkan berbagai gangguan kulit, mulai dari eritema hingga meningkatkan risiko kanker kulit, sehingga penggunaan tabir surya menjadi salah satu upaya perlindungan yang efektif. Namun, bahan aktif sintesis dalam tabir surya berpotensi menimbulkan iritasi pada penggunaan jangka panjang, sehingga diperlukan pengembangan tabir surya berbahan alam yang lebih aman dan berkelanjutan. Bunga kecombrang (Etlingera elatior) diketahui mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan fenolik yang berpotensi sebagai agen fotoprotektif alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan sediaan tabir surya stik ekstrak bunga kecombrang serta mengevaluasi sifat fisik dan aktivitas Sun Protecting Factor (SPF)-nya. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental laboratorium in vitro, dengan ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi pelarut etanol 70%. Sediaan diformulasikan dalam variasi konsentrasi ekstrak 1%, 2%, dan 4%, kemudian dievaluasi sifat fisiknya meliputi organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, titik lebur, daya lekat, dan daya oles, serta penentuan nilai SPF menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan sifat fisik yang baik dan stabil selama penyimpanan, serta peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan nilai SPF, di mana formula dengan konsentrasi 4% menghasilkan nilai SPF sebesar 4,785±0,03 dengan kategori proteksi sedang.

Inggris)Excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause various skin disorders, ranging from erythema to an increased risk of skin cancer, making sunscreen application an effective method for skin protection. However, long-term use of synthetic active ingredients may cause irritation, thus necessitating the development of natural-based sunscreens that are safer and more sustainable. Bunga kecombrang (Etlingera elatior) is known to contain flavonoid and phenolic compounds with potential photoprotective activity. This study aimed to formulate a sunscreen stick containing bunga kecombrang extract and to evaluate its physical characteristics and Sun Protecting Factor (SPF) activity. The research was conducted as an in vitro experimental laboratory study, with the extract obtained through maceration using 70% ethanol. Sunscreen stick formulations were prepared with extract concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 4%, followed by physical evaluations including organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, melting point, adhesion, and spreadability, while SPF values were determined using UV-Visible spectrophotometry. The results showed that all formulations met acceptable physical quality requirements and were stable, with increasing extract concentration leading to higher SPF values. The formulation containing 4% extract produced an SPF value of 4.785±0.03, which was classified as moderate protection, indicating that the sunscreen stick, particularly at 4% extract concentration, has potential as a natural sunscreen product with adequate photoprotective activity.
