Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Fakultas Humaniora, Program Studi Sastra Inggris, Purwokerto, 2025. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana ideologi beroperasi melalui Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) dan Repressive State Apparatus (RSA) Louis Althusser dalam film Zootopia (2016). Menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kerangka kerja naratologi film Peter Verstraten yang mencakup ritme, fokus, ruang, dan frekuensi, penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana film tersebut membangun subjektivitas dan mereproduksi hierarki sosial melalui strategi naratif dan representasi institusional. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ISA seperti sekolah, akademi polisi, keluarga, dan media berfungsi untuk menampilkan nilai-nilai meritokrasi dan memperkuat ekspektasi berdasarkan spesies. Institusi-institusi ini secara halus membentuk Judy Hopps ke dalam posisi ideologis yang tampak sukarela. Sementara RSA, termasuk departemen kepolisian dan otoritas negara, beroperasi melalui struktur disiplin dan praktik paksa yang terlihat dalam tindakan Walikota Lionheart dan Wakil Wali Kota Bellwether. Penggunaan kekuasaan dan kekuatan, manipulasi ketakutan publik, dan kontrol atas informasi menunjukkan bagaimana represi mempertahankan dominasi ideologis. Secara keseluruhan, studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa ideologi meritokrasi Judy dan hierarki predator dan mangsa terbentuk melalui proses interpelasi ideologis yang berlangsung dalam kondisi ketimpangan struktural yang terjadi terus-menerus. |

Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Jenderal Soedirman University, Faculty of Humanities, English Departement, English Literature Study Program, Purwokerto, 2025. This research examines how ideology operates through Louis Althusser’s Ideological State Apparatus (ISA) and the Repressive State Apparatus (RSA) in the film Zootopia (2016). Using a qualitative descriptive method and Peter Verstraten’s film narratology framework which includes rhythm, focalization, space and frequency, the study analyzes how the film constructs subjectivity and reproduces social hierarchy through both narrative strategies and institutional representations. The findings reveal that ISA such as school, police academy, family and media function to naturalize meritocratic values and reinforce species-based expectations. These institutions subtly shape Judy Hopps into ideological positions that appear voluntary. Meanwhile RSA, including the police department and state authority operates through disciplinary structures and coercive practices that are visible in the actions of Mayor Lionheart and Assistant Mayor Bellwether. Their use of power and force, manipulation of public fear and control over information demonstrates how repression sustains ideological dominance. Overall, the study concludes that Judy’s meritocratic ideology and predator-prey hierarchy emerges through ideological interpellation from sustained structural inequality. |
