| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini membahas fenomena Kotak kosong dan penurunan partisipasi pemilih dalam Pilkada Banyumas 2024. Kehadiran calon tunggal yang berhadapan dengan kotak kosong serta rendahnya tingkat partisipasi pemilih menunjukkan adanya persoalan substantif dalam kualitas kontestasi politik lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna kotak kosong bagi masyarakat serta faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi rendahnya partisipasi pemilih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis serta berbentuk studi lapangan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dengan penentuan informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis menggunakan model analisis interaktif yang dikembangkan oleh Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kotak kosong dipahami sebagai ekspresi kritik politik terhadap minimnya alternatif calon dan dominasi elite partai, sekaligus menjadi bentuk partisipasi politik non-konvensional. Penurunan partisipasi pemilih dipengaruhi oleh keterbatasan kontestasi politik, ketimpangan sosial-ekonomi dan pemahaman politik, apatisme serta kejenuhan demokrasi, dan krisis kepercayaan publik terhadap partai politik. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This study examines the phenomenon of none of the above (NOTA) and the decline in voter participation in The 2024 Banyumas local election. The presence of a single candidate competing against none of the above, along with low voter turnout, indicates substantive challenges to the quality of local political contestation. This research aims to understand the meaning of none of the above for the community and to identify the factors contributing to low voter participation. Employing a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and designed as field research, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with informants selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model developed by Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman. The findings reveal that none of the above is perceived as an expression of political criticism toward the limited availability of alternative candidates and the dominance of party elites, while also representing a form of nonconventional political participation. The decline in voter participation is influenced by limited political contestation, socioeconomic disparities and unequal levels of political understanding, political apathy and democratic fatigue, as well as a crisis of public trust in political parties. |
