Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui relasi standar kecantikan terhadap pengalaman kerja profesional perempuan, serta dampaknya terhadap relasi sosial dan kondisi psikologis staf frontliner di industri perhotelan Jepang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner (Google Form), dan dianalisis menggunakan perspektif kencantikan dari Nomi Wolf. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa konstruksi kecantikan di lingkungan kerja tidak hanya sebagai simbol profesionalitas, tetapi juga sebagai bentuk kontrol sosial terhadap tubuh perempuan. Standar penampilan seperti penggunaan riasan, seragam, dan perilaku visual ideal menciptakan beban fisik, psikologis, dan ekonomi bagi karyawan perempuan. Meskipun aturan tersebut dianggap penting untuk menjaga citra perusahaan, nilai kerja perempuan seringkali di reduksi hanya pada aspek penampilan. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasikan empat temuan utama, yaitu kecantikan sebagai syarat profesionalitas, beban fisik dan psikologis, negosiasi dan adaptasi terhadap tuntutan institusional, dan refleksi-harapan. Secara keseluruhan penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa standar kecantikan di industru perhotelan Jepang berfungsi sebagai instrumen sosial-budaya yang membentuk pengalaman kerja perempuan dan memperkuat hierarki gender dalam struktur professional. |

Inggris) | This study aims to determine the relationship between beauty standards and women's professional work experiences, as well as their impact on the social relations and psychological well-being of frontline staff in the Japanese hospitality industry. This study is a descriptive qualitative study, data collection through questionnaires (Google Form), and analyzed using Nomi Wolf's beauty perspective. The results show that the construction of beauty in the workplace is not only a symbol of professionalism, but also a form of social control over women's bodies. Appearance standards such as the use of makeup, uniforms, and ideal visual behavior create physical, psychological, and economic burdens for female employees. Although these rules are considered important for maintaining the company's image, the value of women's work is often reduced only to the aspect of appearance. This study identified four main findings: beauty as a requirement for professionalism, physical and psychological burdens, negotiation and adaptation to institutional demands, and reflection-hope. Overall, this study concludes that beauty standards in the Japanese hospitality industry function as a socio-cultural instrument that shapes women's work experiences and reinforces gender hierarchies within the professional structure. |
