| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang tipe cinta Michael Berg berdasarkan komponen cinta yang dikemukakan oleh Sternberg dan dampak cinta di hidupnya dalam novel Bernhard Schlink yang berjudul The Reader. Pendekatan psikologis diterapkan dalam menganalisa unsur cinta dalam karakter Michael Berg. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitiatif yaitu menggambarkan fenomena cinta Michael Berg kepada Hanna Schmitz. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua komponen cinta dalam diri Michael Berg, yaitu hasrat ketika mereka bercinta dan keintiman dalam ritual membaca. Kedua komponen cinta tersebut membentu tipe cinta romantic dalam diri Michael Berg. Sementara itu, dampak dari cinta Michael Berg terjadi setelah Hanna Schmitz meninggalkannya, yang berpengaruh pada kehidupan social dan pribadinya. Dampak sosial dari cinta Michael Berg terjadi ketika dia tidak bisa bersosialisasi dengan teman-temannya dan dia tidak bisa menjalin hubungan dengan wanita lain. Dampak pribadi terjadi ketika dia merasa hidupnya tidak berarti dan dia merasa trauma akan cinta dalam hidupnya. Cerita dalam novel ini menghadirkan cinta yang tragis, ketika Hanna Schmitz memutuskan mengakhiri hidupnya di akhir dari cerita. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research studies about the type of Michael Berg’s love based on the Sternberg’s component of love and the impact of love in his live in Bernhard Schlink’s novel, The Reader. The psychological approach is applied in analyzing the love elements in the character of Michael Berg. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative that describes the phenomenon of Michael Berg’s love for Hanna Schmitz. The result of this research shows that there are two components of Michael Berg’s Love, which are; passion in making love and intimacy in reading ritual. Both component of love build romantic love as the type Michael Berg’s love. Meanwhile, the impact of Michael Berg’s love happens after Hanna Schmitz leaves him, which affect to his social and personal life. The social impact of Michael Berg’s love happens when he cannot socialize with his friend and he cannot build relationship to other women. Meanwhile the personal impact happens when he feels numbness and traumatic of love in his life. The story of this novel presents the tragic love, while Michael Berg’s lover, Hanna Schmitz suicides her life in the ending of the story. |
