| Judul Artikel | The Students' Perception on the Implementation of the Teaching Methods Used by the English Teacher in Boosting Students' Participation |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini disebabkan karena peneliti ingin mengetahui metode pengajaran seperti apa yang diterapkan oleh guru dan bagaimana pengaruhnya terhadap siswa. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui metode pengejaran bahasa Inggris apa yang sering digunakan oleh guru, (2) mengetahui bagaimana realisasi metode pengajaran bahasa Inggris dapat mempengaruhi pembelajaran siswa, dan (3) memahami persepsi siswa terhadap pengimplementasian metode pengajaran bahasa Inggris yang diterapkan oleh guru bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif. Sampel penelitian melibatkan satu guru dan 35 siswa di kelas yang sama di XII TK-1, SMK Negeri 2 Purwokerto. Peneliti mengumpulkan data melalui observasi dan wawancara. Setelah itu, peneliti menganalisis data tersebut menggunakan analisis deskriptif, naratif, dan tematik. Observasi digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian pertama dan kedua, sedangkan wawancara digunakan untuk memperkaya pertanyaan penelitian pertama dan menjawab pertanyaan penelitian ketiga. Penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa guru umumunya menggunakan metode Tata Bahasa- Terjemahan dan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Guru seringkali menggunakan dua pertemuan untuk mengajarkan satu materi. Pertemuan pertama berfokus pada materi, dan pertemuan kedua digunakan siswa untuk mengerjakan latihan dan praktik. Selain itu, persepsi siswa terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru juga berbeda-beda. Beberapa siswa merasa kegiatan pembelajaran menyenangkan dan efektif, sementara yang lain merasa kegiatan pembelajaran membosankan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan guru agar mengeksplorasi pembelajaran berbasis masalah sebagai penelitian tindakan dan kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research deals with discovering the teaching methods used by the teacher, the realization of the teaching methods, and students’ perception of the teaching methods applied. Therefore, this research aims are: (1) to know what English teaching methods are frequently used by the teacher, (2) to know how the realization of the English teaching methods affects students' participation, and (3) to understand the students’ perception towards the implementation of the English teaching methods applied by the English teacher. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The sample involved one teacher and 35 students in the same class of XII TK 1, SMK Negeri 2 Purwokerto. The researcher collected the data using observation and interviews. After that, the researcher analyzed those data by using descriptive, narrative, and thematic analysis. The observation was used to answer the first and second research questions, while the interview was used to enrich the first research question and answer the third research question. This research shows that the teacher mainly used both the Grammar-Translation Method and Problem-Based Learning during the learning activities. The teacher often used two meetings to teach one material. The first meeting focused on the material, and the second meeting was for students to do exercises and practice. Moreover, the students differ in their perception of the teacher's learning activities. Some students felt that the learning activities were fun and effective, while others felt that the learning activities were boring. This study recommends that the teacher explore problem-based learning as action research and classroom teaching and learning activities. |
