Judul ArtikelDEGRADASI LIMBAH DEGREASING MENGGUNAKAN Aspergillus spp. TERIMOBILISASI ABU BOILER BAGASSE TEBU DENGAN VARIASI KONSENTRASI
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Degreasing waste, generated from cleaning oil or grease from machinery using hydrochloric acid (HCl), contains recalcitrant compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), which are carcinogenic and harmful to the environment. Bioremediation using fungi offers an environmentally friendly solution. This study utilized Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus sp.3 to degrade degreasing waste. Aspergillus niger produces ligninolytic, amylase, cellulase, and protease enzymes, while Aspergillus sp.3 produces ligninolytic enzymes that degrade lignin. Fungal degradation was enhanced using sugarcane bagasse boiler ash (ABBT) as an immobilization material, as it contains lignocellulose that increases substrate porosity and supports fungal growth. The research aimed to determine the effect and effectiveness of Aspergillus spp. immobilized on ABBT in degrading degreasing waste at various concentrations (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%), using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The experiment began with fungal inoculum preparation, followed by immobilization on ABBT and subsequent degradation tests. The independent variables were fungal species and waste concentration, while the dependent variable was the degradation efficiency. Results showed that Aspergillus spp. immobilized on ABBT effectively decolorized and degraded degreasing waste. The highest degradation percentage (88.46%) was achieved by Aspergillus sp.3 immobilized on ABBT at 100% waste concentration. Supporting parameters included the dry weight of immobilized fungi (A. niger: 5.74–10.04 g; A. sp.3: 3.37–6.20 g), pH (1.49–4.16), dissolved oxygen (2.12–9.20 mg/L), total dissolved solids (1,203–4,830 mg/L), and temperature (28–30°C).
