| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “The Portrayal of Sisterhood in Pilcher’s A Call to Spy (2019)” ini termasuk dalam penelitian kajian budaya yang berfokus pada sisterhood dalam gerakan feminis. Dengan menerapkan teori feminis, khususnya konsep sisterhood dari Bell Hooks dan tema-tema sisterhood dari Cohen dkk., penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk-bentuk sisterhood yang digambarkan oleh tokoh-tokoh perempuan dalam A Call to Spy (2019). Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan teori feminisme dari Bell Hooks. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, dan hasil penelitian disajikan dengan metode deskriptif. Data yang diambil berasal dari tokoh utama, dialog, dan shot kamera dalam bentuk tangkapan layar. Adapun sumber data utama berasal dari film A Call to Spy (2019). Hasil analisis mengungkapkan bahwa film tersebut memiliki empat bentuk sisterhood, yaitu, rasa memiliki dan hubungan interpersonal di antara perempuan, dukungan dan dorongan dari para perempuan, tanggung jawab kolektif perempuan, dan penolakan terhadap patriarki sebagai tujuan bersama. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian menekankan bahwa penggambaran sisterhood dapat dilihat dalam film A Call to Spy (2019), dengan memperhatikan kekuatan dan tindakan kolektif perempuan. |

Inggris) | The phenomenon of sisterhood, defined as the emotional connections and unity among women, has become a growing focus in film, especially in narratives depicting women’s roles in contexts of conflict and struggle. A Call to Spy is (2019) is an American historical drama movie written by Sarah Megan Thomas and directed by Lydia Dean Pilcher. The movie depicts the real-life stories of tree courageous women who served as spies for the Allied forces during World War II. They are Virginia Hall, Noor Inayat Khan, and Vera Atkins. This research used feminist theory, particularly Bell Hooks’ concept of sisterhood and Cohen et al.’s themes of sisterhood. This research aims to examine the portrayal of sisterhood and its forms depicted in A Call to Spy (2019). Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study collects data from the main characters, the dialogue, and the camera shot in the movie. The analysis reveals that the movie contains four forms of sisterhood, namely, belonging and interpersonal connection among women, women encouragement and support, women collective responsibility, and resisting patriarchy as a shared purpose. Overall, the result highlights women's unity, emotional connections, and acts of mutual support as key elements of its story. The research emphasizes how female characters explore their identities and form alliances within the male-dominated world of war and espionage. |
