Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Sekam padi sebagai limbah pertanian melimpah berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif
ramah lingkungan melalui pembuatan briket arang, meskipun bentuk fisik dan sifat pembakarannya kurang
efisien sehingga perlu pengolahan lebih lanjut. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh variasi tekanan
pemadatan dan konsentrasi perekat terhadap kualitas briket arang sekam padi yang diukur melalui kadar air,
kadar abu, dan nilai kalor dengan rancangan faktorial dua faktor, masing-masing tiga taraf perlakuan. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan variasi tekanan pemadatan menghasilkan kadar air 5,30%–7,70% dan kadar abu
5,80%–7,70%, sedangkan variasi konsentrasi perekat menghasilkan kadar air 5,30%–7,70% dan kadar abu
5,80%–7,70%, seluruhnya memenuhi standar mutu SNI 01-6235-2000 (kadar air ≤ 8% dan kadar abu ≤ 8%).
Kombinasi tekanan tinggi dan perekat rendah memberikan kadar air (5,30%–6,50%) serta kadar abu (5,80%–
7,07%) lebih rendah, juga sesuai standar SNI. Berdasarkan studi literatur, tekanan tinggi cenderung
meningkatkan nilai kalor, sedangkan perekat tinggi menurunkannya, sehingga kombinasi tekanan tinggi dan
perekat rendah berpotensi menghasilkan briket arang sekam padi dengan mutu terbaik.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Rice husk, an abundant agricultural waste, has the potential to be utilized as an eco-friendly alternative fuel
through charcoal briquette production, although its physical form and inefficient combustion properties require
further processing. This study aims to analyze the effect of varying compaction pressure and binder
concentration on the quality of rice husk charcoal briquettes, measured by moisture content, ash content, and
calorific value, using a factorial design with two factors, each consisting of three treatment levels. The results
showed that variations in compaction pressure produced moisture content ranging from 5.30% to 7.70% and ash
content from 5.80% to 7.70%, while variations in binder concentration produced moisture content from 5.30%
to 7.70% and ash content from 5.80% to 7.70%, all of which met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 01-
6235-2000) requirements (moisture ≤ 8% and ash ≤ 8%). The combination of high pressure and low binder
concentration resulted in lower moisture (5.30%–6.50%) and ash content (5.80%–7.07%), also within the SNI
standard. Based on literature studies, high pressure tends to increase calorific value, while high binder
concentration tends to decrease it, indicating that the combination of high pressure and low binder concentration
has the potential to produce rice husk charcoal briquettes of the best quality.
