Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Budaya Korea atau Korean Wave telah menyebar ke Indonesia. Penggemar K-pop di
Indonesia didominasi wanita (28,2%) dan kelompok usia 20–25 tahun (40,7%) paling
dominan. NCT berada di peringkat kelima dengan jumlah penggemar di Indonesia,
sehingga interaksi antar anggota NCT menjadi konsumsi publik. NCTzens—fans
NCT—yang tertarik pada interaksi antar anggota NCT selanjutnya sering disebut
bromance. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui makna bromance di kalangan NCTzen.
Penggunaan metode kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara,
observasi, dan dokumentasi dari informan NCTzen Purwokerto, dianalisis secara
interaktif menggunakan Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan
interaksi simbolik di dalam pikiran (mind) informan, bromance dipandang sebagai
perbedaan budaya, budaya Korea menganggapnya wajar, sementara budaya
Indonesia menganggap kontak erat laki-laki secara fisik tabu. Informan berpendapat
bahwa interaksi laki-laki lebih menarik daripada interaksi dengan lawan jenis.
Bromance dipakai untuk mengekspresikan kasih sayang, dipengaruhi paparan
budaya Korea, ikatan sosial seperti persahabatan, saudara, atau keluarga yang
menekankan ekspresi emosi, bukan unsur seksual, interaksi simbolik diri (self)
melibatkan looking-glass self, yaitu informan menyadari stigma, dan menyesuaikan
perilaku, dan dalam masyarakat (society) informan berinteraksi dengan significant
others dan reference groups. Maskulinitas industri K-pop mengalami pergeseran. Soft
masculinity menantang norma tradisional, memperlihatkan sisi feminim laki-laki,
yaitu penggunaan warna cerah dan rangka tubuh ramping,sedangkan hard
masculinity ditandai warna gelap dan fisik kuat.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Korean culture, or the Korean Wave, has spread to Indonesia. K-pop fans in Indonesia
are predominantly women (28.2%) and the 20–25 age group (40.7%) is the most
dominant. NCT ranks fifth in the number of fans in Indonesia, so interactions among NCT
members have become public consumption. NCTzens—NCT fans—who are interested in
interactions among NCT members are often referred to as bromance. This study aims to
determine the meaning of bromance among NCTzens. The qualitative method uses data
collection through interviews, observations, and documentation from NCTzen
informants in Purwokerto, analyzed interactively using Miles and Huberman. The

results show symbolic interaction in the minds of informants. Bromance is viewed as a
cultural difference; Korean culture considers it normal, while Indonesian culture
regards close male physical contact as taboo. Informants argue that male–male
interactions are more interesting than interactions with the opposite sex. The mind’s
symbolic interaction—bromance—is used to express affection, influenced by exposure
to Korean culture, and serves as social bonds such as friendship, brothers, or family that
emphasize emotional expression rather than sexuality. The self involves looking-glass
self, with informants recognizing stigma and adjusting behavior, and in society,
informants interact with significant others and reference groups. The K-pop industry’s
masculinity has shifted. Soft masculinity challenges traditional norms, showing the more
feminine side of men, using bright colors and a slender physique, while hard masculinity
is marked by dark colors and a strong physique.
