| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Tugas akhir penciptaan karya ini membahas peran Director of Photography (DoP) dalam proses penciptaan Film Dokumenter “Cowongsewu, Harmoni di Balik Trasformasi Ritus Banyumasan”, yang mengangkat perubahan ritual budaya Cowongan di Banyumas menjadi seni pertunjukan. Transformasi ini dilakukan sebagai respons atas modernisasi, dengan tetap mempertahankan nilai-nilai spiritual budaya lokal. Salah satu transformasi tersebut adalah aturan dalam ritual Cowongan yang tidak berlaku dalam seni pertunjukan, seperti harus diperagakan oleh wanita yang suci atau sedang tidak haid. Selain itu, ritual Cowongan dalam bentuk seni pertunjukan telah beralih fungsi dari ritual pemanggil hujan menjadi sebuah hiburan bagi masyarakat setempat. Film dokumenter ini bertujuan menjelaskan apa saja transformasi budaya ritual Cowongan menjadi seni pertunjukan. Dalam proses kreasinya, seorang director of photography memiliki peranan dari tahap pra-produksi hingga pasca produksi. Keterlibatannya mengarahkan batasan dalam pembuatan film yang menyoroti bahwa transformasi pertunjukan Cowongsewu ditujukan agar dapat melibatkan partisipasi masyarakat luas, sehingga Cowongsewu dikenal sebagai perayaan yang mengusung kesinambungan antara manusia dan sekitarnya. Penciptaan karya ini menggunakan pendekatan teori kritis Habermas untuk menganalisis dimensi sosial, subjektif dan objektif dalam perubahan budaya tersebut. Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa penyuntingan visual yang tepat mampu memperkuat narasi dokumenter dan menjaga kesinambungan makna antara tradisi dan bentuk pertunjukan modern. Karya ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pelestarian budaya lokal. Selain itu, dokumenter ini juga dapat menjadi referensi akademik bagi penciptaan karya serupa di masa mendatang. |

Inggris) | This final project discusses the role of director of photography in the process of creating the documentary film “Cowongsewu, Harmony Behind the Transformation of Banyumasan Rite”, which describes the transformation of the Cowongan cultural ritual in Banyumas into a performing art. This transformation was carried out as a response to modernization, while still maintaining the spiritual values of local culture. One of the transformations is the rules in the Cowongan ritual that do not apply in performing arts, such as having to be performed by women who are pure or not menstruating. In addition, the Cowongan ritual in the form of performance art has shifted its function from a rain-calling ritual to an entertainment for the local community. This documentary aims to explain what are the cultural transformations of the Cowongan ritual into performing arts. In the creation process, a director of photography has a role from pre-production to post-production. His involvement directs the boundaries of filmmaking that highlights that the transformation of Cowongsewu performances is intended to involve the participation of the wider community, so that Cowongsewu is known as a celebration that carries the continuity between humans and their surroundings. The creation of this work uses Habermas' critical theory approach to analyze the social, subjective and objective dimensions of cultural change. The results show that proper visual editing can strengthen the documentary narrative and maintain the continuity of meaning between tradition and modern performance forms. This work is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving local culture. In addition, this documentary can also be an academic reference for the creation of similar works in the future. |
