Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia)Perlintasan traktor di lahan pertanian dapat menyebabkan pemadatan tanah yang berdampak negatif terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman akibat menurunnya porositas dan kadar air tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengkaji pengaruh jenis mulsa organik terhadap pemadatan tanah enam bulan setelah perlintasan traktor roda dua pada kedalaman 0 – 50 cm, (2) menentukan jenis mulsa organik paling efektif dalam mengurangi dampak pemadatan, serta (3) menganalisis hubungan antar variabel fisik tanah yang dipengaruhi mulsa dan pemadatan. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Karangduren, Banyumas, dan Laboratorium Universitas Jenderal Soedirman pada Agustus 2024 – Mei 2025 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan: tanpa mulsa (M0), mulsa jerami padi (Mj), mulsa sekam padi (Ms), dan mulsa serasah daun bambu (Md). Parameter yang diamati meliputi kerapatan massa tanah kering (ρd), konduktivitas hidrolik jenuh (ks), porositas (f), dan kadar air tanah (w). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua jenis mulsa organik menurunkan nilai ρd serta meningkatkan ks, f, dan w dibandingkan tanpa mulsa, dengan efektivitas tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh Mj. Kedalaman tanah berbanding terbalik dengan nilai ρd dan sebanding dengan ks, f, dan w. Regresi menunjukkan hubungan negatif antara ρd dan ks (R² = 0,5048), serta hubungan positif antara porositas dan kadar air dengan ks (R² = 0,5048 dan 0,3152). Enam bulan setelah perlintasan traktor, terjadi perubahan signifikan pada sifat fisik tanah, terutama peningkatan ρd serta penurunan f dan ks pada M0. Mulsa jerami padi terbukti paling efektif menahan degradasi sifat fisik tanah.
Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris)Tractor traffic on agricultural land can lead to soil compaction, which negatively affects plant growth due to reduced porosity and soil moisture content. This study aimed to: (1) examine the effect of organic mulch types on soil compaction six months after two-wheel tractor passage at a depth of 0 – 50 cm, (2) determine the most effective type of organic mulch in mitigating compaction, and (3) analyze the relationship between soil physical properties influenced by mulch application and compaction. The research was conducted from August 2024 to May 2025 in Karangduren Village, Banyumas Regency, and at the Integrated Laboratory of Universitas Jenderal Soedirman using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: no mulch (M0), rice straw mulch (Mj), rice husk mulch (Ms), and bamboo leaf litter mulch (Md). Observed variables included dry bulk density (ρd), saturated hydraulic conductivity (ks), porosity (f), and soil moisture content (w). Results showed that all organic mulch types reduced ρd and increased ks, f, and w compared to the control (M0), with Mj being the most effective. Increasing soil depth was associated with decreasing ρd and increasing ks, f, and w. Regression analysis indicated a negative relationship between ρd and ks (R² = 0.5048), and a positive relationship between porosity and moisture content with ks (R² = 0.5048 and 0.3152, respectively). After six months, significant changes in soil physical properties were observed, especially an increase in ρd and a decrease in f and ks in the control treatment. Rice straw mulch was found to be the most effective in minimizing the degradation of soil physical properties.
