| Judul Artikel | Pengaruh Fortifikasi Mineral Magnesium dan Sulfur dalam Pakan Terhadap Konsumsi dan Kecernaan Protein Domba Lokal |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh fortifikasi mineral magnesium dan magnesium + sulfur dalam pakan terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan protein domba lokal jantan telah dilaksanakan pada 16 Mei - 13 September 2024. Materi yang digunakan yaitu 18 ekor domba lokal jantan berumur 10-12 bulan dengan rerata bobot badan 24,2 ± 2,2 kg. Pakan basal yang diberikan terdiri dari 25% jerami padi amoniasi (JPA) dan 75% konsentrat berdasarkan 4,5% bahan kering dari bobot badan domba. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental in vivo dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola satu arah. Tiga perlakuan diuji, yaitu P1 = JPA 25% + konsentrat 75%, P2 = P1 + magnesium 0,005%, P3 = P2 + sulfur 0,83%. Masing-masing perlakuan yang diuji diulang sebanyak 6 kali. Variabel yang diukur yaitu konsumsi dan kecernaan protein kasar. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh rerata konsumsi protein kasar pada P1 sebesar 120,84 ± 8,7 g/ekor/hari, P2 sebesar 142,47 ± 7,81 g/ekor/hari, dan P3 sebesar 149,44 ± 12,50 g/ekor/hari. Rerata kecernaan protein kasar pada P1 sebesar 72,19% ± 3,19%, P2 sebesar 69,45% ± 1,34% (P2), dan P3 sebesar 66,16 ± 3,39%. Hasil analisis variasi membuktikan bahwa fortifikasi mineral magnesium + sulfur dalam pakan sangat nyata (P<0,01) meningkatkan konsumsi protein kasar dalam pakan domba lokal akan tetapi secara nyata (P<0,05) menurunkan kecernaan protein dalam pakan. Uji lanjut analisis variansi konsumsi dan kecernaan protein kasar menggunakan BNJ mendapatkan pengaruh P3 terhadap P1 sebesar 12,56% dan 0,09%. Disimpulkan bahwa fortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur efektif meningkatkan konsumsi protein dalam pakan domba lokal meskipun menurunkan kecernaan protein yang diduga dipengaruhi oleh mekanisme fisiologi mengenai sensasi lapar dan kenyang pada domba. |

Inggris) | The research, which was conducted from May 16 to September 13, 2024, aimed to assess the effects of fortifying feed with the magnesium and magnesium + sulfur minerals on protein intake and digestibility of local male sheep. The experiment used 18 local male sheep aged 10–12 months, with an average body weight of 24.2 ± 2.2 kg. The basal diet consisted of 25% ammoniated rice straw (ARS) and 75% concentrate, formulated based on 4.5% dry matter of the sheep’s body weight. The research method used was an in vivo experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in a one-way pattern. Three treatments were tested: P1 = 25% ARS + 75% concentrate, P2 = P1 + 0.005% magnesium, and P3 = P2 + 0.83% sulfur, each treatment was replicated six times. The measured variables were protein intake and digestibility. The average crude protein intake was 120.84 ± 8.7 g/head/day for P1, 142.47 ± 7.81 g/head/day for P2, and 149.44 ± 12.50 g/head/day for P3. The average crude protein digestibility was 72.19% ± 3.19% for P1, 69.45% ± 1.34% for P2, and 66.16% ± 3.39% for P3. Analysis of variance showed that the fortification of magnesium + sulfur minerals in the diet highly significant (P<0.01) in increasing crude protein intake in local sheep, while it significantly (P<0.05) decreased protein digestibility. Further analysis of variance on crude protein intake and digestibility using the Tukey Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test revealed that P3 had an effect on P1 of 12.56% for intake and 0.09% for digestibility. In conclusion, the fortifying feed with the magnesium and magnesium + sulfur minerals is effective in increasing protein intake of the local male sheep, although it decreases protein digestibility. This decrease is presumed to be influenced by physiological mechanisms related to hunger and satiety sensation in sheep. |
