Indonesia) | Studi ini meneliti jenis-jenis ekspresi hiperbolik yang terdapat dalam album Hit Me Hard and Soft (2024) milik Billie Eilish, dengan menggunakan klasifikasi hiperbola dari Claridge (2011). Ekspresi-ekspresi tersebut dikelompokkan ke dalam tujuh kategori: kata tunggal, frasa, klausa, angka, perbandingan, pengulangan, dan peran bentuk superlatif. Melalui pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis 88 ekspresi hiperbolik dalam lirik-lirik lagu di album tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa jenis hiperbola yang paling sering digunakan adalah bentuk klausal (45,45%), diikuti oleh pengulangan (21,59%) dan frasa (13,64%). Sebaliknya, hiperbola numerik (3,41%), bentuk superlatif (2,27%), dan kata tunggal (4,55%) muncul lebih jarang. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya kecenderungan kuat dalam penggunaan bentuk-bentuk hiperbola yang lebih kompleks dan emosional dalam penulisan lagu Billie Eilish, kemungkinan besar untuk memperkuat kedalaman emosi dan makna lirik. Studi ini memberikan wawasan tentang fungsi stilistika dan semantik dari hiperbola dalam musik modern, serta menekankan relevansinya dalam kajian linguistik kontemporer. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This study investigates the types of hyperbolic expressions found in Billie Eilish’s 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft, using Claridge’s (2011) classification of hyperbole. The expressions are categorized into seven types: single word, phrasal, clausal, numerical, comparison, repetition, and the role of superlative. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, the study identifies and analyzes 88 hyperbolic expressions across the album’s lyrics. The analysis shows that clausal hyperbole is the most frequently used type (45.45%), followed by repetition (21.59%) and phrasal hyperbole (13.64%). In contrast, numerical hyperbole (3.41%), the role of superlative (2.27%), and single word hyperbole (4.55%) appear less frequently. These findings indicate a strong preference for more complex and emotionally charged forms of exaggeration in Billie Eilish’s songwriting, likely aimed at enhancing emotional resonance and lyrical depth. The study offers insights into the stylistic and semantic functions of hyperbole in modern music, highlighting its relevance in contemporary linguistic analysis. |
