Indonesia) | Penelitian ini mengkaji potret birokrasi dalam novel Perempuan yang Menunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut karya Dian Purnomo, yang mengangkat isu ketidakadilan sosial akibat aktivitas penambangan ilegal di Pulau Sangihe. Novel ini merefleksikan ketimpangan relasi kekuasaan dan peran birokrasi dalam merespons konflik antara kepentingan masyarakat lokal dan kepentingan korporasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sosiologi sastra serta teori potret sosial dari Soerjono Soekanto untuk menganalisis bagaimana birokrasi digambarkan dalam novel tersebut. Hasil penelitian menemukan empat kutipan yang mencerminkan bentuk-bentuk birokrasi, mulai dari birokrasi yang bersifat represif, birokrasi yang memihak kepentingan investor, hingga birokrasi yang abai terhadap suara rakyat. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa novel tidak hanya menjadi karya estetika, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai medium kritik sosial terhadap praktik birokrasi yang timpang dan tidak berpihak pada keadilan lingkungan serta hak masyarakat adat. |

Inggris) | This study examines the portrayal of bureaucracy in the novel Perempuan yang Menunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut (The Woman Waiting in the Corridor Toward the Sea) by Dian Purnomo, which raises the issue of social injustice caused by illegal mining activities on Sangihe Island. The novel reflects the imbalance of power relations and the role of bureaucracy in responding to the conflict between the interests of the local community and those of corporate entities. This research employs a literary sociology approach and the theory of social portrait by Soerjono Soekanto to analyze how bureaucracy is depicted in the novel. The findings reveal four key excerpts that represent various forms of bureaucracy, ranging from repressive bureaucracy and bureaucracy that sides with investor interests, to bureaucracy that is indifferent to the voices of the people. These findings indicate that the novel serves not only as a work of literary art but also as a medium of social critique against unjust bureaucratic practices that neglect environmental justice and the rights of indigenous communities. |
