| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki persepsi siswa tentang alih kode di kelas dan alasan mengapa guru menggunakan pengajaran bahasa Inggris alih kode. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menemukan kondisi nyata praktik alih kode di kelas. Subjek penelitian dari penelitian ini adalah 35 siswa dari kelas XI TJKT 1 SMKN 1 Banyumas dan guru bahasa Inggris yang mengajar kelas XI TJKT 1 SMKN 1 Banyumas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah deskripsi kualitatif, penelitian ini berusaha untuk menggambarkan sepenuhnya persepsi mereka tentang penggunaan alih kode di kelas bahasa Inggris. Kuesioner dibagikan kepada 35 siswa XI TJKT 1 SMKN Banyumas untuk mengetahui persepsi mereka tentang penggunaan alih kode di kelas bahasa Inggris. Wawancara dilakukan dengan 3 siswa yang telah dipilih berdasarkan kriteria yang telah ditentukan, wawancara ini dilakukan untuk mendukung temuan dari kuesioner. Peneliti juga mewawancarai guru Bahasa Inggris yang mengajar di kelas XI TJKT 1 SMKN 1 Banyumas untuk mengetahui alasan mengapa ia menggunakan alih kode ketika mengajar Bahasa Inggris. Peneliti juga melakukan observasi non-partisipan untuk mengetahui kondisi sebenarnya dari penggunaan alih kode di kelas XI TJKT 1 Banyumas. Analisis deskriptif dilakukan untuk menganalisis temuan data dari kuesioner dan observasi. Temuan data dari kuesioner menghasilkan temuan bahwa 34 dari 35 siswa setuju bahwa penggunaan alih kode di kelas Bahasa Inggris membuat pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris lebih efektif. Semua siswa juga memiliki persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan alih kode di kelas Bahasa Inggris karena alih kode bermanfaat, hal ini berdasarkan hasil wawancara. Menurut hasil observasi, penggunaan alih kode di kelas XI TJKT 1 sering terjadi. Alasan mengapa alih kode sering terjadi di kelas Bahasa Inggris karena alih kode membantu siswa lebih memahami materi, membuat pembelajaran lebih efektif, mengatur kelas dan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, hal ini diungkapkan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris selama wawancara. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan alih kode dalam kelas bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, alih kode sering terjadi di kelas bahasa Inggris. Peserta disarankan untuk berlatih menggunakan bahasa Inggris dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of code-switching in class and the reasons why teachers use code-switching English teaching. This study also aims to discover the real condition of code-switching practice in the classroom. The research subjects of this study are 35 students from class XI TJKT 1 SMKN1 Banyumas and the English teacher who teaches class XI TJKT 1 SMKN 1 Banyumas. The research method used by the researcher is qualitative description, this research seeks to fully describes their perception of the use of code-switching in English classes. Questionnaire were distributed to 35 students of XI TJKT 1 SMKN Banyumas to find out their perceptions of the use of code-switching in English classes. Interviews were conducted with 3 students who had been selected based on predetermined criteria, this interview were conducted to support the findings from the questionnaire. The researcher also interviewed the English teacher who teaches in class XI TJKT 1 SMKN 1 Banyumas to find out the reasons why she used code-switching when teaching English. The researcher also conducted non-participant observation to find out the real condition of the use of code-switching in class XI TJKT 1 Banyumas. Descriptive analysis undertaken to analyse the data findings from questionnaire and observation. The data finding from questionnaire resulted in the finding that 34 out of 35 students agreed that the use of code-switching in English classes made English learning more effective. All students also have a positive perception of the use of code-switching in English class because code-switching is beneficial, this is based on the results of the interview. According the observation, the use of code-switching in class XI TJKT 1 often occurs. The reasons why code-switching often occurs in English classes because code-switching helps students better understand the material, make learning more effective, organizes the class and improves students learning outcomes, this was revealed by the English teacher during the interview. The findings of this study indicated that the participants have positive perceptions towards the use of code-switching in English classes. Also, code-switching often happens in English classes. Participants are advised to practice using English in their daily life. |
