| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Artikel hasil penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan gerakan mahasiswa di Indonesia dalam foto-foto dokumentasi Peristiwa Mei 1998 yang merepresentasikan kekuatan politik mahasiswa pada saat itu untuk melawan Rezim Orde Baru. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan semiotika dalam bingkai perspektif pascastruktural dan paradigma dekonstruksionisme, hasil penelitian tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa fenomena gerakan mahasiswa Indonesia dapat diteliti melalui foto-foto dokumentasi Peristiwa Mei 1998. Selain itu, hasil penelitian tersebut juga membuktikan bahwa gerakan mahasiswa dalam foto-foto dokumentasi Peristiwa Mei 1998 merepresentasikan gerakan perlawanan terhadap Rezim Orde Baru. Melalui foto-foto yang menjadi sasaran dalam penelitian tersebut, bentuk-bentuk gerakan yang terlihat adalah gerakan demonstrasi secara masif, gerakan konfrontasi dengan pihak aparat keamanan, gerakan penggalangan massa dengan rakyat, dan gerakan pemboikotan fasilitas negara. Bentuk-bentuk gerakan tersebut merepresentasikan kekuatan politik mahasiswa dalam melawan dan menumbangkan Rezim Orde Baru tersebut. Kekuatan politik mahasiswa itu sendiri terbagi menjadi dua peta kekuatan, yaitu kekuatan moral dan kekuatan massa. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This research-based paper aims at describing and explaining the student movement in Indonesia in the Documentation Photographs of the Incident of May 1998 representing the political power of the students at that time to fight against the New Order regime. By using a qualitative method and semiotics approach in the framework of the post-structural perspective and the deconstructionism paradigm, the result of the research reveals that the phenomenon of the student movement in Indonesia is able to be analyzed through the documentation photographs of the Incident of May 1998. In addition, this research also proves that the student movement in Indonesia represents the movement of resistance towards the New Order regime. Through the photographs becoming the target of the research, the forms of the movement reflected in the photographs are the movement of massive demonstration, the movement of confrontation with the apparatus of security, the movement of mobilization with people, and the movement of boycott towards the state facilities. The forms of the movement representing the political power of the students in fighting against the New Order regime is split into two maps of power, i.e. the moral power and the mass power. |
