| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “Analisis Metafora Konseptual tentang Virus Corona dalam Judul Berita BBC News” bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi jenis, makna, dan fungsi bahasa dari ekspresi metaforis yang ditemukan dalam judul berita BBC News. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan data primer berupa judul berita BBC News tentang virus corona. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Metafora Konseptual Zoltán Kövecses (2010) dan Teori Fungsi Bahasa Geoffrey Leech (1974). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari dua puluh enam berita utama, terdapat dua puluh metafora ontologis, empat metafora struktural, dan dua metafora orientasional. Selain itu, judul-judul berita tersebut mengandung berbagai fungsi bahasa, yaitu Ekspresif (14), Informatif (6), Direktif (3), Estetis (2), dan Fatis (1). Kesimpulannya, penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa penggunaan metafora konseptual dalam judul berita BBC News tentang virus corona dapat menjelaskan dan menggambarkan isu-isu yang kompleks menjadi lebih mudah dipahami dan mempengaruhi persepsi atau tanggapan pembaca terhadap pandemi. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled “Conceptual Metaphor Analysis of Coronavirus in BBC News Headlines” aims to explore the types, meanings, and language functions of metaphorical expressions found in BBC News headlines. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, where the primary data consists of BBC News headlines about coronavirus. This research uses Zoltán Kövecses (2010) Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Geoffrey Leech's (1974) Language Functions Theory. The results show that out of twenty-six headlines, there are twenty ontological metaphors, four structural metaphors, and two orientational metaphors. In addition, the news headlines contain various language functions, namely Expressive (14), Informative (6), Directive (3), Aesthetic (2), and Phatic (1). In conclusion, this study reveals that using conceptual metaphors in BBC News headlines about the coronavirus explains and describes complex issues more understandably and influences readers’ perceptions or responses to the pandemic. |
