| Judul Artikel | Teachers' Strategies in Teaching Vocabulary for the Seventh-Grade Junior High School Students |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian ini berfokus pada strategi guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengajar kosakata dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi guru untuk menerapkan strategi tersebut pada siswa kelas tujuh SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan strategi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar kosakata dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi guru untuk menerapkan strategi tersebut pada siswa kelas tujuh SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Desain penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Peneliti menggunakan pedoman observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan pedoman analisis dokumentasi. Subyek penelitian ini adalah dua orang guru bahasa Inggris siswa kelas tujuh SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Peneliti menggunakan teori yang dikembangkan oleh Mothe (2000) untuk menjawab rumusan masalah pertama dan teori yang dikembangkan oleh Lawrence (2009) untuk menjawab rumusan masalah kedua. Hasil pertama menunjukkan bahwa guru menggunakan representasi visual, mengajarkan kata-kata dalam konteks, dan menayangkan video. Sementara itu, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi guru dalam menerapkan strategi tersebut antara lain preferensi guru, kontrol perilaku, dan kemampuan siswa. |

Inggris) | Abstract: This research focused on English teachers’ strategies in teaching vocabulary and the factors influencing the teachers to apply the strategies at the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2023/2024. The purposes of this research were to describe the strategies used by teachers in teaching vocabulary and the factors influencing the teachers to apply the strategies at the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2023/2024. The research design was descriptive qualitative research. The instruments of this research were observation, interview, and documentation. The researcher used observation guidelines, interview guides, and documentation analysis guidelines. The subjects of this research were two English teachers at the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Purwokerto in the academic year of 2023/2024. The data were collected by using observations, interviews, and documentation. The researcher used the theory developed by Mothe (2000) to answer the first problem statement and the theory developed by Lawrence (2009) to answer the second problem statement. The first results showed that the teachers used a visual representation, teaching words in context, and showing a video. Meanwhile, the factors influencing the teachers applying the strategies included the teachers’ preferences, behavioral control, and students’ abilities. |
