Indonesia) | Karya sastra merupakan perwujudan daya imajinasi dan latar belakang seorang pengarang yang di dalamnya berisi berbagai masalah yang mencerminkan kehidupan manusia di masyarakat. Hal tersebut berkaitan dengan kejiwaan tokoh dalam proses pemenuhan kebutuhan sehingga muncul beberapa konflik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) representasi kebutuhan tokoh utama dalam novel Karsa karya El Alicia (2) bentuk konflik batin tokoh utama dalam novel Karsa karya El Alicia. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah baca dan catat, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis data interaktif yang terdiri atas pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian dalam menganalisis novel Karsa karya El Alicia terdapat representasi kebutuhan tokoh utama berupa kebutuhan kebutuhan fisiologis, kebutuhan rasa aman, kebutuhan rasa dicintai dan memiliki, kebutuhan dihargai, dan kebutuhan aktualisasi diri. Bentuk konflik batin yang muncul pada tokoh utama akibat adanya proses pemenuhan kebutuhan terdapat lima konflik, yaitu rasa takut, rasa cemas, sedih, sakit hati, dan marah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, proses pemenuhan kebutuhan paling mendasar sehingga muncul konflik batin adalah kebutuhan rasa aman. Konflik batin muncul karena tidak terpenuhinya kebutuhan dan konflik yang paling sering muncul adalah cemas. |

| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Literary work is a manifestation of the author’s imagination and background, containing a variety of issues that represent human life in society. This is related to the character’s psychology in fulfilling the needs which leads to several conflicts. The purpose of this study is to discuss (1) the representation of the main character’s need in the novel Karsa by El Alicia and (2) the form of the main character’s inner struggle in Karsa by El Alicia. This study was conducted using the qualitative method, with data collected through reading and note-taking. The researcher used interactive data analysis technique which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research in analyzing Karsa by El Alicia there is a representation of the main character’s needs in the form of physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, the needs to be appreciated, and self-actualization needs. There are five forms of inner conflict that arise in the main character due to the process of fulfilling needs: fear, anxiety, sadness, hurt, and anger. According to the results and discussion of this research, the process of fulfilling the most basic need that causes internal conflict is the need for safety. Internal conflict arises because of the lack of satisfaction of needs, thus, the conflict that most often arises is anxiety. |
