| Judul Artikel | USING MATCHING PICTURES TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ON DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT 7TH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 5 SATU ATAP REMBANG |
| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | The main purpose of this research is to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension ability by the use of matching pictures on descriptive text. This research used quantitative and qualitative research method. Total sampling is used in this research. The sample is the students of seventh grade class that consists of 30 students. The instrument used to collect the data is by giving pre-test, post-test and observation. This research was analyzed using normality, T-test (Paired Sample T-test). The results of this research are (1) The calculation result shows that using matching pictures was effective in improving students’ reading comprehension on descriptive text by seeing the average score of post-test (70.3) was higher than the pre-test score (46.6). It can be said that matching pictures was effective to be used. (2) The use of matching pictures is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension ability on descriptive text at the seventh-grade students of SMP N 5 Satu Atap Rembang. Students are able to leverage the use of pictures as a way to enhance their reading skills. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa dengan penggunaan matching pictures pada teks deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Total sampling digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VII yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah dengan memberikan pre-test, post-test dan observasi. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji normalitas dan uji t (Paired Sample T-test). Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan matching pictures efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks deskriptif dengan melihat skor rata-rata post-test (70,3) lebih tinggi dari skor pre-test (46,6 ). Dapat dikatakan matching pictures efektif untuk digunakan. (2) Penggunaan matching pictures efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks deskriptif pada siswa kelas tujuh SMP N 5 Satu Atap Rembang. Siswa dapat memanfaatkan penggunaan gambar sebagai cara untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca mereka. |
