| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Laporan praktik kerja ini berjudul “Translating Animated Short Movie Subtitles Entitled “Crow: The Legend” by Baobab Studios”. Praktik kerja dilakukan pada September – Oktober 2022. Tujuan dari dilaksanakannya praktik kerja ini adalah untuk menerjemahkan subtitle pada film pendek animasi “Crow: The Legend”, menjelaskan proses penerjemahan, menjelaskan kendala pada saat menerjemahkan, dan menjelaskan solusi dari kendala pada saat menerjemahkan. Terdapat empat tahap dan sembilan teknik yang digunakan dalam proses menerjemahkan subtitle pada film pendek animasi “Crow: The Legend”. Tahapan tersebut adalah menganalisis pesan teks bahasa sumber, mengalihkan pesan teks dari bahasa sumber ke bahasa sasaran, merekstrukturisasi hasil terjemahan, dan mengevaluasi serta merevisi hasil terjemahan. Selanjutnya, teknik yang digunakan adalah adaptation, amplification, discursive creation, established equivalence, linguistic amplification, linguistic compression, literal translation, transposition, and variation. Selama proses penerjemahan, penulis menemui beberapa kendala. Kendala tersebut adalah kurangnya keterampilan dalam menemukan padanan kata yang tepat dalam bahasa target dan pengetahuan yang terbatas tentang idiom. Solusi untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut adalah memahami konteks setiap kata atau kalimat pada dialog, berkonsultasi dengan pembimbing serta proofreader dan menggunakan kamus offline atau online untuk mencari idiom. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | This job training report was entitled “Translating Animated Short Movie Subtitles Entitled “Crow: The Legend” by Baobab Studios”. The job training was implemented in September – October 2022. The purposes of this job training were translating the subtitles on the animated short movie “Crow: The Legend”, explaining the translation process, explaining the obstacles in translating, and explaining the solutions to the obstacles in translating. There were four stages and nine techniques used in the process of translating subtitles on the animated short movie "Crow: The Legend". These stages were analyzing the source language text messages, transferring text messages from the source language to the target language, restructuring the translation results, and evaluating and revising the translation results. Furthermore, the techniques used were adaptation, amplification, discursive creation, established equivalence, linguistic amplification, linguistic compression, literal translation, transposition, and variation. During the translation process, there were several obstacles encountered. These obstacles were the lack of skills in finding the right equivalent words in the target language and limited understanding of idioms. The solution to overcome these obstacles were understanding the context of each word or sentence in the dialogue, consulting with supervisors and proofreaders, and using offline or online dictionaries to look up idioms. |
