Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi proses, pendapat, dsan masalah penggunaan Instagram dalam pengajaran menulis teks deskriptif untuk siswa kelas X. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) Untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggunaan media Instagram dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskriptif untuk bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas 10 SMK. (2)Untuk mengetahui pendapat siswa dan guru (3) Untuk mengetahui permasalahan guru dan siswa dalam menggunakan Instagram sebagai media pembelajaran teks deskriptif. Metodologi penelitiannya adalah penelitian kualitatif eksploratif. Populasi dan sampel penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa XTE 2 SMKN 2 Purwokerto. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, dan wawancara. Informasi yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan teori Miles dan Huberman, dan hasilnya disajikan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Beberapa langkah yang dilakukan guru dalam mengimplementasikan Instagram memberikan brainstorming, menjelaskan tentang materi teks deskriptif, mengajak siswa mengunduh aplikasi Instagram, menunjukkan fitur-fiturnya dan meminta siswa berlatih menulis teks deskriptif di Instagram. (2) Instagram membantu siswa karena banyak contoh di dalamnya dan fitur-fiturnya yang bermanfaat. Fitur kolom komentar membantu mereka dalam merevisi tulisan, fitur hashtag menyediakan banyak contoh teks deskriptif untuk referensi. Bagi guru, tagar untuk mengumpulkan tugas siswa efektif. (3) Instagram yang digunakan membutuhkan jaringan internet untuk mengakses aplikasi ini, dan tidak semua siswa memiliki wifi dan jaringan internet di rumahnya. Beberapa siswa tidak percaya diri untuk menampilkan tugas mereka di Instagram karena mereka menganggap bahasa Inggris mereka masih kurang bagus dan semua orang bisa melihatnya di Instagram.

This research aims to identify the process, opinions, problems of using Instagram in teaching writing descriptive text for Tenth Grade Students. The purposes of this research are: (1)To know how is the application of using Instagram as media for teaching writing descriptive text for EFL at 10th grade of SMK students. (2) To know the students’ and teacher’s opinions (3)To know the problems teacher and students have in using Instagram as media of teaching and learning descriptive text. The methodology of this research is explorative qualitative research. The population and sample for this research were the English teacher and the XTE 2 students of vocational school 2 Purwokerto. Data was acquired through observation, and interviews. The gathered information was analyzed using Miles and Huberman's theory, and the outcomes were presented via data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.The study's findings are as follows:(1)Several steps taken by the teacher in implementing the Instagram were provided brainstorming, explained about descriptive text material, invited students to download Instagram application, showing its features and asked students to practicing to write descriptive text in Instagram. (2)Instagram help students because there were many examples in it and its useful features. The feature of a comment column help them in revising their writing based on their other friends and their teacher's comment, hashtag feature provides more examples of descriptive text for their references. For the teacher, the hashtag to collect students’ homework effectively. (3) The used Instagram needs internet network to access this application, and not all students have wifi and an internet network at their homes. Some students unconfident about displaying their assignments on Instagram because they thought their English is still not good and everyone could see it on Instagram.
