| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Proliferasi senjata nuklir merupakan isu perdamaian yang terus beredar selama beberapa dekade terakhir. Terutama setelah penggunaan senjata pemusnah massal pada tahun 1945 yang mengakhiri Perang Dunia II sekaligus mengawali era ketegangan yang baru. Amerika Serikat dan Uni Soviet adalah dua kekuatan nuklir tradisional yang pertama mengembangkan teknologi tersebut untuk kepentingan militer. Dalam perkembangannya, terdapat total 9 kekuatan nuklir dunia. Takhta Suci sebagai aktor internasional turut terlibat dalam usahanya mewujudkan nonproliferasi nuklir. Melalui kerangka moral yang dipegang, Gereja melalui Paus-paus berbicara kepada dunia. Riset ini menggunakan Teori Peran sebagai metode penelitian dan alat analisis. Data yang dihimpun berupa dokumentasi teks-teks resmi pejabat senior Takhta Suci maupun negara lainnya. Dengan demikian, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjawab Konsepsi Peran Takhta Suci atas isu nuklir. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | Peace debate has long focused on nuclear nonporliferation for decades. The successful atomic bomb dropped in 1945 was seen as a milestone for either the end of World War II and the start of the Cold War. The United States and Soviet Union were considered as traditional nuclear powerhouses, pioneering the military use of nuclear technology. As of now, there are 9 states that possess the weapons. The Holy See, recognized as an international actor, actively participated in the efforts for a world free of nuclear weapons. The Popes, representing the Church, strive to disseminate a moral framework worldwide. This study uses a research method of Role Theory. Documents retrieved from high-ranking officials of Holy See and other nations were then collected and analyzed through the lens of the theory. Therefore, this thesis aimed to explore the Role Conception of the Holy See regarding nulcear nonproliferation. |
