Penelitian ini dimulai dari pentingnya kemampuan menulis yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa khususnya menulis teks naratif. Perhatian umum dari penelitian ini adalah kemampuan menulis dan perhatian utama dari penelitian ini adalah peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks naratif siswa dengan menggunakan Short Narrative Animation Video pada siswa kelas X IPA MA Al Hidayah Purwojati. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks naratif siswa, penerapan Video Animasi Narasi Pendek dan tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan Video Animasi Narasi Pendek. Data diperoleh dari hasil tes 24 siswa, observasi dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan T-test. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-experimental dengan menggunakan one group pre-test and post-test design. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Hasil komputasi menunjukkan bahwa Video Short Narrative Animation efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks narrative siswa dimana rata-rata skor post-test mendapat skor terbaik (80,66) dibandingkan skor pre-test (48,41). Persentase peningkatannya adalah 66%. Dengan kata lain, Short Narrative Animation Video efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks naratif siswa. (2) Pada observasi yang dilakukan, penerapan video animasi pendek naratif berhasil dilaksanakan dalam pembelajaran dengan menggunakan 2 video yang berbeda. Hal itu ditunjukkan pada hasil checklist observasi. Selain itu, siswa juga menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dalam pembelajaran ini. (3) Dalam hasil wawancara, siswa menyatakan bahwa video animasi pendek naratif membantu mereka dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis khususnya teks naratif. Para siswa menyatakan bahwa mereka juga mendapatkan peningkatan dalam mendengarkan dan keterampilan kosa kata. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan Short Narrative Animation Video efektif dan berhasil untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks narrative siswa kelas X MA Al Hidayah Purwojati. Video tersebut dapat menghilangkan kebosanan siswa, menarik perhatian siswa dan juga memperluas imajinasi siswa. Guru dapat mencoba memanfaatkan video atau film lain untuk dimanfaatkan dalam kegiatan kelas mereka untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang efektif dan menarik.

This research was begun from the importance of writing ability that should be mastered by the students especially writing narrative text. The general concern of this research is the writing ability and the main concern of this research is the improvement of students’ writing ability of narrative text by using Short Narrative Animation Video at the tenth-grade science students of MA Al Hidayah Purwojati. This research was aimed to find out the improvement of students’ writing ability of narrative text, the implementation of Short Narrative Animation Video and the students responses toward the implementation of Short Narrative Animation Video. The data were gained from the result of test of 24 students, observation and interview. This research was analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and T-test. The kind of this research was pre-experimental using one group pre-test and post-test design. The results of this research are as follows: (1) The computation results showed that Short Narrative Animation Video was effective in improving students’ writing ability of narrative text where the average of post-test score got the best score (80.66) than the pre-test score (48.41). The percentage improvement was 66%. In other words, Short Narrative Animation Video was effective to improve students’ writing ability of narrative text. (2) In the observations made, the implementation of short narrative animation video was successfully implemented in learning using 2 different videos. It was shown on the results of observation checklist. In addition, students also showed a high enthusiasm in this learning. (3) In the interview result, the students stated that short narrative animation video helped them in improving their writing ability especially narrative text. The students stated that they also gain improvement in listening and vocabulary skills. In conclusion, the use of Short Narrative Animation Video is effective and successful to improve students’ writing ability of narrative text at the tenth grade students of MA Al Hidayah Purwojati. The video could relieve students’ boredom, attract students’ attention and also broaden students’ imagination. The teachers may try to take advantage of another video or movie to be utilized in their classroom activities to conduct an effective and interesting learning atmosphere.
