| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Penelitian yang berjudul “The Meaning of Different Ring Colors in ShangChi: The Legend of Ten Ring (2021)” memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui arti dari perbedaan warna pada cincin yang dikenakan oleh tiga tokoh berbeda. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam menganalisa data. Data utamanya adalah film Shang-Chi (2021) oleh Daniel Cretton. Terlebih lagi, peneliti menggunakan teori Semiotika milik Barthes untuk meneliti arti denotasi dan konotasi, juga mitos yang disimpulkan dari kumpulan data mengenai simbol. Teori mise-en-scene, khususnya penggunaan properti dalam film. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada dua warna berbeda yang muncul dari cincin tersebut ketika dikenakan oleh karakter yang berbeda dengan ambisi dan karakteristik yang berbeda pula. Warna pertama biru muncul saat Wenwu memakai cincin itu, pancaran biru muncul darinya. Sedangkan warna kuning bersinar dari cincin saat Shang-Chi atau ibunya memakainya. Warna kuning pada cincin yang digunakan oleh ShangChi dan ibunya, Ying Li. Selain itu, warna biru diasosiasikan dengan amarah serta energi negatif seperti Yin dalam legenda Tionghoa sedangkan warna kuning diasosiasikan dengan kebijaksanaan dan mewakili filosofi Yang sesuai dengan karakter dominannya |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The research entitled “The Meaning of Different Ring Colors in ShangChi: The Legend of Ten Ring (2021)” aims to find out the meaning of the different colors on the rings worn by three different characters. The researcher uses qualitative methods in analyzing data. The main data is the movie ShangChi: The Legend of Ten Rings (2021) by Daniel Cretton. In addition, the researcher uses Barthes' Semiotics theory to examine the meaning of denotations and connotations, as well as myths which are deduced from a collection of data about symbols. Also, the researcher uses Mise-en-scene theory, especially the use of props in films. The results of this study indicate that there are two different colors that emerge from the ring when worn by different characters with different ambitions and characteristics. The first color is blue appears when Wenwu wore the ring, a blue glow comes from it. Meanwhile, the yellow glows from the ring when Shang-Chi or his mother wears it. Yellow color on the ring used by ShangChi and his mother, Ying Li. Furthermore, blue is associated with rage as well as negative energy like Yin in Chinese legend while the yellow color is associated with wisdom and represents the philosophy of Yang in accordance with his dominant character |
