| Abstrak (Bhs. Indonesia) | Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang efektif sangat dibutuhkan dalam rangka peningkatan hasil belajar di kelas. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan peneliti di kelas 8A SMP PGRI 1 Ajibarang, siswa memiliki masalah dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Mereka tidak dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggis mereka terutama dalam memahami teks recount dan descriptive. Berdasarkan pernyataan tersebut, peneliti mencoba memecahkan masalah tersebut dengan implementasi metode make a match di kelas 8A SMP PGRI 1 Ajibarang tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari empat unsur yaitu; perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode make a match untuk meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran dan keaktifan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Analisis data menggunakan analisis kualitatif deskriptif dan kuantitatif. Analisis data dibagi dalam dua bagian. Pertama, keefektifan metode make a match dianalisis menggunakan hasil tes dan observasi. Kedua, pendapat siswa dan guru terhadap penggunaan metode make a match dalamn pemebelajaran bahasa Inggris dianalisis menggunakan wawancara dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa implementasi metode make a match di kelas 8A effektif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil observasi dan tes. Data pra-pengamatan aktivitas siswa yaitu 25% meningkat menjadi 78% di akhir aksi 2 siklus ke 3. Sedangkan aktifitas guru pada pra-pengamatan kurang efektif menjadi efektif di aksi 2 siklus ke 3. Hasil rata-rata tes bahasa Inggris pada pre-tes yaitu 39,03% (kategori gagal) meningkat menjadi 71,80% (kategori baik) di pos-tes 3 atau meningkat 32,77%. Sedangkan hasil wawancara dan kuesioner menunjukan bahwa adanya respon positif terhadap implementasi metode make a match. Hasil kuesioner menunjukan bahwa 97% siswa menjawab YES di kuesioner. Penulis menyimpulkan berdasarkan penjelasan pada pembahasan diatas, metode make a match dapat digunakan sebagai metode alternatif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris karena dapat meningkatkan aktifitas dan hasil belajar siswa. |
| Abtrak (Bhs. Inggris) | The effectiveness of English learning process is needed to improve learning achievement in the class. Based on the researcher’s observation in class 8A SMP PGRI 1 Ajibarang, the students had problems in learning English. They could not improve their competence in English learning process, especially in learning English text such as descriptive and recount. Based on that statement, the researcher tried to solve the problem by implementing make a match method in class 8A SMP PGRI 1 Ajibarang academic year 2012/2013. This research belongs to classroom action research which consists of four elements of CAR: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The method of make a match is conducted to improve learning outcomes and activities in English learning process. The analysis uses both descriptive qualitative and quantitative method and the data analysis is divided into two sections. First, the effectiveness of implementation of make a match method is conducted by using test and observation. Second, the perception of students and teacher in implementing make a match method in English learning process is conducted by using interview and questionnaire. The result shows that the implementation of make a match method for class 8A is effective. It could be seen from the result of observation and test. The data gained from preliminary observation of students’ activities was 25% and it increased by 78% in action 2 of cycle 3. The mean of English test in pre-test was 39,03% and included into poor category. In post-test 3, the mean of students’ English test was 71,80% which was in good category and it is increased by 32,77%. Meanwhile, the teacher’s activities that are less effective in the preliminary observation showed better results in action 2 of cycle 3. Then, the result of data interview and questionnaire show that students and teacher gave positive response in implementing make a match method. The result of questionnaire shows that students are interested in English learning process by using make a match method; it can be seen from 97 % students who answered YES in the questionnaire after the research. Based on the above findings and analysis, the researcher concludes that make a match method can be chosen as an alternative method in teaching learning process because it can increase student’s activity and achievement. |
